Mental Health Worker
Permanent Part Time
Geraldton District Hospital is seeking a knowledgeable, compassionate and self-motivated
individual to join our team to assist individuals experiencing a mental health crisis and
provide information and referral assistance, crisis assessment, interventions and supports,
brief crisis counseling and on-site crisis intervention.
Qualifications and Experience:
Post-secondary degree or diploma in the health or human services field
2 years’ experience working with individuals with mental illness and/or addictions
Good knowledge of community mental health and other social service resources and
possess skills and experience in crisis assessment, intervention strategies, and crisis
Ability to manage multiple priorities with excellent communication, interpersonal and
Exercises positive public relation skills in the performance of duties
Must be physically able to perform the essential duties of the job
Ability to communicate in both official languages is an asset
Knowledge of First Nations culture and language is an asset
Available to work flexible hours and/or on call
