We are looking for a Bilingual Communications Coordinator, with a love of sports, to play an active role on our communications’ team. You will help members of the communications, marketing and OSEG Foundation departments do their jobs more efficiently by providing information and story ideas, facilitating interview requests and proactively pitching stories. You will also work with the sport teams’ operations and OSEG administration by translating written materials.
What you’ll do:
Write and distribute news releases.
Translate and proof-read news releases and other materials written in English to French.
Assist with game-day media relations.
Prepare media game notes for sports teams.
Coordinate and host news conferences.
Adhere to the communications guidelines and requirements as outline by the leagues.
Be a primary contact for media and facilitate interviews.
Attend team practices and assist with media relations as required.
Research, write content for annual team media guides and program booklets.
Develop and maintain strong working relationships.
Participate in departmental meetings and contribute story ideas.
Assist in growing the media database for all OSEG properties.
Support broadcast coverage (TV, radio, online) of OSEG’s properties.
Monitor media coverage of all OSEG properties.
What you need:
A degree in communications, public relations, journalism or related discipline;
Experience as an intern or entry-level, preferably with a sports team, in media relations and/or marketing communications;
Impeccable communication skills (spoken and written) in English and French;
Understanding of CFL football, hockey and soccer;
Exceptional writing/proof-reading skills in English and French;
Strong interpersonal skills;
Highly organized and able to multi-task;
Excellent project/time management skills and strong attention to detail;
A team player willing to step-in wherever needed;
Able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines;
Willing to work unusual hours;
Expertise with MS Office (Word, Excel and PPT) and other business applications, Adobe Premier and Photoshop skills an asset;
Video production, photography and web development skills an asset;
Experience with CFL, USL, OHL, NFL, MLS, NHL, or CIS in a communications role an asset.
