The Wingham and Lucknow offices of Crawford,Mill & Davies are hiring a full-time experienced bookkeeper immediately to assist in performing the billing, bookkeeping and accounting functions and other office management functions of our law firm. The practice is a solicitors practice focussing on real estate, wills & estates and business law. The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational and communication skills and will be trustworthy with a keen eye for detail. Previous legal bookkeeping experience is desired and previous bookkeeping experience is must.

The responsibilities include:

  • Bank statement reconciliations, including trust account reconciliations in accordance with the Law Society of Ontario requirements
  • Payroll together with related reporting and punctual payment of associated government remittances
  • Management and prompt payment of vendor invoices, accounts payable and expenses
  • Balance and maintain accurate ledgers
  • Generation of financial reports
  • Office supply ordering
  • Monitor office expenses
  • Coordination with firm’s accountants
  • Accounts receivable follow-up
  • General bookkeeping
  • Travel to our local banks to make deposits and to do other firm banking

Please note that the following are required:

  • Extensive knowledge of and experience with PC Law along with various reporting requirements of the Law Society of Ontario, Canada Revenue Agency, etc.
  • Ability to work independently and deal with multiple demands
  • Minimum of five (5) years of law firm bookkeeping experience
  • Successful completion of relevant post-secondary education or equivalent experience

The bookkeeper will report to the two partners of the firm.


Commensurate with the candidate’s experience.
