This posting is for up to 8 hourly positions at various facilities throughout the County
The role of the hourly Arena Operator II is to provide guest service and is responsible for maintain recreation facilities as it relates to facility inspections and preparation, ice for making and maintenance, ice re-surfacing and event support. Arena operator II’s ensure facilities are kept clean and safe for guests and staff.
Be present throughout the facility and is the primary contact for arena guests.
Conduct daily activities in a leadership role, assisting peers with the completion of tasks and resolve operational issues
Model a high level of service with internal and external guests
Interact and build relationships with guests and other staff through friendly and courteous interactions and provide options and solutions for guest requests
Follow operational procedures in response to facility emergencies, guest incidents and ice plant mechanical issues
Set up recreation facilities and provide service and support for guests, bookings and special events
Carry out regular housekeeping duties to ensure the facility is clean and safe for guests
Safely operate the ice re-surfacer and arena maintenance equipment to maintain safe, high quality ice surfaces
Prepare and clean arena facilities for ice making, sport court install and turf
Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of facility programs and activities, and day-to-day facility operations·
Strong organizational and time management skills·
Excellent customer services skills and the ability to positively interact with facility guests using strong conflict resolution skills
Ability to work in a team environment as well as work independently
Ability to work varying shifts and hours, including evenings and weekends
High School Diploma with 2 years related experience
Current Standard First Aid certification is preferred
Related Courses from Alberta Recreation Facility Personnel (i.e. Arena Operator I) is an asset
Previous municipal experience is an asset
Conditions of Employment
Submission of Satisfactory Criminal Record Check
Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s licence and submission of a Driver’s Abstract with less than 7 demerits
Ability to perform physical labour as part of the job duties and stand/walk for extended periods of time
