Position Overview

The Department of Medicine in the Cumming School of Medicine invites applications for a Clinical Research Coordinator. This Fixed Term Recurring Part-time position is for approximately 9 months (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.

The Clinical Research Coordinator will report to the Principal Investigator.

This is a Recurring Part-time position with variable hours. Recurring part-time employees are hourly employees engaged to perform work on an irregular schedule. This position is for approximately 9 - 15 hours a week.

Position Description

Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):

Responsible for regular visits to the Triage, Labour & Delivery and Postpartum Units at Foothills Medical Centre

Assess patient eligibility, review necessary patient records, collaborate with nursing staff

Provide any necessary teaching and the pre-packaged study medication to the subject, as well as arrange future follow-up

Approach potential trial candidates with a positive and calm demeanor

Obtain consent from subjects wishing to participate in the pilot PARTUM trial according to standard approved protocol

Collaborate with the study investigators to perform and complete relevant parts of the study, such as obtaining signatures, discussing questions that come up, reviewing abnormal results of tests

Perform physician delegated functions, such as interviewing and educating patients, completing questionnaires, administering pre-packaged study medication

Coordinate and schedule research visits according to study procedures Collect and maintain accurate screening logs

Perform data entry into REDCAP Cloud

Qualifications / Requirements:
Bachelor Degree in Nursing
3+ years of nursing experience
Experience as an RN or LPN an asset
Previous experience working on a Labour & Delivery or Postpartum ward is preferred and is an asset
Completion of ICH/GCP training, or must be willing to obtain
Knowledge and experience with the University of Calgary clinical research process regarding investigator-initiated clinical trials
Ability to solve complex problems, highly analytical
Superior organizational and time management skills
Strong computer and data entry skills
Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to be flexible with workdays and hours
