Summer Caseworker Assistants – Thunder Bay

Full-Time Summer Employment for 8 Weeks Monday to Friday days $18.00 an hour

These positions provide assistance to caseworkers during the summer months. Duties may include: Providing therapeutic
support to children, youth and caregivers in their homes; linking children, families and youth to community resources;
providing support to children and youth in care; supporting foster families; facilitating and supervising access visits between
children in the care of the Society and their families.

Qualifications

  • Enrollment in a social work, social service or child and youth care post-secondary program, or related human
services program

  • Demonstrated ability to develop helping relationships with children, youth and families
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently; comfortable working with families in their homes
  • Organized, energetic
Job Requirements

  • Valid “G” Driver’s License and safe driving record (i.e., no more than two driving offences in the past three year
period, and/or no more than five demerit points )

  • Access to a personal vehicle and proof of one million dollar liability insurance coverage
  • Criminal Records Check – Vulnerable Sector deemed satisfactory to the Employer, dated no earlier than May 25,
2018

These positions are generously supported through Canada Summer Jobs, an initiative under Canada’s Youth Employment
Strategy. Applicants for these positions must meet specific criteria:

  • Age 30 years of age or younger at the start of employment;
  • Full-time student in the 2017 – 2018 academic year, and planning to return to school as a full-time student in the
2018 – 2019 academic year.
