Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Engineer to join our Consulting Team in Burlington. The position involves a variety of work including design, layout, project management, field investigations, and studies.

Description
Industrial Mechanical design engineer involved in plant services design, including piping, ventilation, boilers, chillers, compressors, and refrigeration.
Perform hydraulic piping and pump calculations, stress analyses, and material selections.
Chemical or similar plant, pumping, piping layout, valve selection and sizing experience.
Experience in process, bulk materials handling, plant and equipment layout is an asset.
Experience as a project manager and/or lead Engineer on small to mid-size projects within an Industrial environment.
Prepare technical specifications, equipment lists and material lists.
Perform site investigations, design calculations, assessments, and reports as required.
Liaise with other engineering disciplines to coordinate technical information.
Ability to check and evaluate drawings from a detailed technical perspective, both in-house and vendor approval drawings.
Competence and literacy with design programs such as Caesar, Microsoft project, relief valve sizing and process mass balancing software or others is desired.
Perform construction inspections and prepare technical reports.
Deliver engineering design in accordance to project timeframes and standards.
Guide CAD designers in the preparation of drawings and provide technical expertise as required.

Qualifications

Mechanical Engineering degree and registration as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario.
A minimum of 5 years proven experience in preparation and certification of tender drawings, and specifications in an industrial environment.
Exposure to industrial operations and systems including manufacturing facilities, food and beverage operations, chemical plants, thermal systems, and larger scale institutional.
Exposure to plant environments, recording field conditions, and performing construction reviews.
General knowledge of 3D software such as AutoPlant and/or SmartPlant is an asset.
Ability to manage and liaise with clients, equipment vendors, contractors and regulatory authorities in a competent, resourceful and confident manner.
Experience in directing drafters/designers both technically and within budget control.
Ability to meet with clients, determine needs, develop estimates, and assist with proposal preparation scopes and services is an asset.
Ability to manage the design preparation, budget and schedule.
Good working knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook and MS Project).
Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, are essential.
