Located in the heart of Toronto’s Financial District, our head office is easily accessible by TTC and GO Transit, and within walking distance to the Eaton Centre and CN Tower. As a national property and casualty commercial insurance provider, we also have offices across Canada.
This position is accountable for quality management services to our customers who use Northbridge systems and applications. The successful candidate will lead a testing team, determining the tools and techniques for delivering the Test Strategy and will champion the testing team with innovative solutions to support the business community for testing practices.
What you will be doing:
Lead a team of resources to establish, improve and evolve formal QA strategy/processes, ensuring the team is using industry standard and Northbridge accepted best practice for manual, automation, performance and security testing.
Analyze requirement specifications and system design documentation to provide QA estimates, QA resource plans, and QA test plans with emphasis on automation and risk based approach to deliver projects on time.
Oversee all aspects of Quality Assurance process, including reviews with team, establishing metrics within projects, and maintaining clear, concise and detailed test documents.
Lead and mentor QA team members both internally and externally, perform peer review quality checks of test documentation.
Maintain status updates within the incident and defect management tools.
Support application releases and provide input into implementation plans.
Identify and escalate risks and/or issues to the QA Management and Project Management.
Provide support to application development areas in relation to defect analysis, and resolution processes. Ensure impact of defects are understood, evaluated and communicated.
Produce and maintain documentation as requested and required.
As needed , provide demos, share advice and guidance to users/project managers in the effective use of software.
Assist the User community with troubleshooting and problem resolution for production issues.
Participate in formal QA reviews and system audits, as required. Assist with responses to audit findings.
Co-ordinate meetings with business SMEs and IT teams, to review objectives, results, business requirements, technical specifications, and testing. Provide documented feedback and input in the creation of system specifications, considering operational processes, workflows, security, and current system design.
Identify report and assist with resolution of process non-conformances. Ensure impact of process non-conformances are understood, evaluated and communicated.
Mentor and train less experienced Quality analysts.
Mentor less experience Quality analysts to assist in future development and growth.
Foster an environment of creative thinking, positive criticism, open communication, risk taking, and recognize employees for appropriate behavior.
Coordinate project-team activities, and assist members in achieving objectives as necessary.
Perform quality control checks on work performed by less experience Quality analysts.
Provide training and support to other business and information systems staff members as required.
Other duties as assigned.
What we are looking for:
Post-secondary education and/or equivalent job experience.
Minimum of 7 years of Quality Assurance testing experience within the P&C insurance .
Minimum of 3 years of Quality Assurance Lead role .
Must be experienced with Onshore/Offshore delivery model and leading offshore team.
Full understanding of, and compliance to, SDLC and Agile methodologies.
In depth knowledge of the Insurance Industry including Claims Processing, Underwriting, Reinsurance and Policy/Forms Generation, Regulatory compliance/reporting.
Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Products (Windows, Office Suite)
Knowledge of QA applications Team Foundation Server (TFS) and/or Hewlett Packard QTP.
Strong interpersonal skills verbal and written, strong leadership skills
Knowledge of Test Automation (especially Automation scripting, Test Tool scripting and Excel scripts) is required.
Knowledge of Infrastructure (servers, network, security) technologies is a definite .
