Based in Vancouver, BC, the Financial Accountant serves as an integral member of the Finance team and the primary function will be to ensure the financial reporting is accurate, timely and meaningful with effective analysis. The Financial Accountant will need to be extremely detail oriented, possess excellent technical accounting abilities and be a collaborative team player.
The primary responsibilities of the Financial Accountant will include:
Working closely with our Accounting team to ensure complete, accurate and timely reporting
Supporting the Assistant Controller with the month-end full cycle accounting
Coordinating with the external auditors and provide audit support required
Supporting the Treasury Manager for collections from portfolio companies, debt covenant reports, and cash flow projections
Supporting the FP&A Manager with the reporting and budgeting functions
Preparing and analyzing consolidated and corporate performance monthly by assembling and summarizing data; preparing reports; making presentations of findings, analyses, and recommendations while ensuring supporting schedules are in place
Identifying metrics and other value add adjustments that can be incorporated into our monthly, quarterly and annual reporting processes
Support the implementation of additional modules in the current ERP system
Support the implementation of a new reporting system
Identifying ways to streamline processes and drive efficiencies in the pursuit of continuous improvement and better overall performance
Ad hoc reporting and analysis as required
Experience and Education
CPA with minimum 3 years of post-designation experience working in a financial reporting preparation role with full cycle accounting experience
Strong technical accounting abilities and attention to detail
Intermediate level of Excel experience
Self-motivated, high energy individual with the ability to influence others
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Effective organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to prioritize projects and multi-task daily priorities to meet deadlines
Ability to develop and maintain a professional rapport with clients, consultants and team members
Practical experience working in a global company
