Water Utilities Operator, Treatment Level II

Job Position Summary:
This is a Full-time permanent job posting of 40 hours per week, with overtime/on-call additional shifts.
The successful candidate would have a Water Treatment Level II Certification, with the ability to achieve a Level III within a reasonable time frame.
The responsibilities include:
The day-to-day maintenance, inspection, repairs, and servicing of water systems.
Collecting and transporting water quality samples.
Test and analysis of water quality for chlorine residual, turbidity and other parameters and familiarity with UV systems.
Implements and enforces safety regulations and regulatory compliance, ensuring all tasks are carried out in compliance of the current rules, regulations and standards governing water supply, treatment and distribution (as set out by the District, Provincial and Federal legislation).
Involvement in the monitoring and adjusting disinfection systems, including use of the SCADA and chlorine handling.
Makes adjustments accordingly to maintain control of flow, chemicals, residuals and finished water quality
Follows all company policies, procedures and standards.
Participates in record keeping of the water systems performance, including operational records, readings, maps, and shift logs.
Carries out preventative maintenance and repair tasks for water facilities and equipment, including regular inspections of systems, sites and equipment.
Responds to emergency calls and/or organize staff to meet emergency needs as required.
Has proficient written and oral communication skills; uses diplomacy, tact and respect to maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and ensures a positive message is communicated to the community at large.
Performs other related duties as required.
Completion of Grade 12 High School Diploma
Valid Class 5 Driver's license; must be able to provide driver's abstract showing a clean driving record
3 years experience in a water treatment or distribution role or equivalent
**EOCP Certified Water Treatment Level II minimum
Ability to pass and maintain a criminal record check
Working knowledge of SCADA systems
Ability to read, interpret, and sketch maps
**The ideal candidate would be willing to reside in the Blind Bay or Sorrento area of the Shuswap region of BC.
A competitive industry wage will be offered based on the experience of the qualified employee- between $34-$38/hour.
