Community Support Worker

For more than fifty years, Anago has been helping at-risk children, youth and vulnerable adults navigate critical transitions in their lives by making connections that support healthy living. As a registered charity, Anago provides services and support for people to achieve independence through integration into communities of support. We work out of many different locations based in London, Middlesex and Huron Counties, with referral case intake from all over Ontario.

Due to COVID-19 and resulting community service restrictions, external applicants will be offered temporary positions as permanent hire documentation requirements cannot be fulfilled at this time.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing support to young persons in a Children’s Mental Health residential setting, focusing on the educational needs of the students at the on-site Section 23 School requirements Service. The position is based in the classroom during school hours and is responsible for assisting schoolteachers in all aspects of the student’s education, including but not limited to consistent student supervision, support with schoolwork, and recognizing and intervening effectively with respect to behaviours. Hours of work are approximately 31.50 hours per week, following the Thames Valley District School Board (TVDSB) yearly school calendar.

Qualifications:

· Post Secondary education in a related field, such as Child and Youth Care, Social Service Worker, Social Sciences or equivalent

· A current valid Ontario (G) Driver’s Licence

· Current Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC)

· Current immunizations and health assessment

· Standard First Aid & CPR Level C

· Current Prevention & Management of Aggressive Behaviour (PMAB) Certificate

· Minimum one (1) year related experience

· Ability to work as part of a team

· Ability to make independent decisions based on Policies & Procedures

· Bilingualism is considered an asset
