As a Sommelier at Saltlik

The Saltlik Sommelier works with the JRG Head Sommelier to develop a profitable wine program for Saltlik.
The Saltlik Sommelier is responsible for all wine service.
The Saltlik Sommelier establishes a culture of wine appreciation, trains the service standards, and represents the brand in the public eye.

Responsibilities:
Hires, trains, schedules and executes a world-class wine service.
Mentors wine team to become figures in the community.
Opens, decants, and serves all wine in the Saltlik dining room.
A resource for every table in the dining room. Seeks out opportunities for sales and experience enhancement.
Can deliver all the responsibilities of a Floor Manager.
Participates in the overall running of the dining room. (Food running, drink running, seating guests, clearing tables).

Works with the Private Events Manager to prepare wine for all private parties.
Mentors Saltlik Servers about when and how to sell more wine in their service dialogue.
Maintains inventory and completes nightly stocking.

Orders all wine for the restaurant.
Develop and execute wine club for guests.
Develop and execute wine sessions for staff.

Requirements

Head Sommelier must have WSET 3, ISG Certification, CMS Certification or equivalent.
Exceptional restaurant skills and knowledge about all elements of the business.
Deep knowledge of food and cooking techniques.
Knowledge of beer, wine, and spirits an asset.
A passion for learning, and teaching others new skills about hospitality practices and leadership.
Intermediate knowledge of bar, wine, and food an asset.
Avid diner and appreciator of restaurants an asset.
Outstanding communication skills.
Ability to work in a team, in a fast-paced, changing environment.
Passionate to win, yet humble.
Motivated, driven to develop yourself as a lifelong learner.
Humility coupled with a good sense of humor.
Warm demeanor.
Sensitive and aware to different social conditions and interactions.

Working Conditions:
Willingness to work split shifts, weekends, nights.
Able to lift at least 50 pounds.
