Riverview Animal Hospitalis a General Practice animal hospital, as well as a 24 hour emergency and referral center, that has been serving the community for over 50 years! We are looking for Veterinary Assistants that would love working alongside a passionate team of professionals that practice excellent medicine and build lasting relationships with our clients and their pets. Job Responsibilities

We are looking for Veterinary Assistants that genuinely love working in a fast paced environment. Our ideal candidate enjoys learning and wants to grow into a rewarding career. We are looking for someone who is driven to go above and beyond for our clients and their pets.

Some responsibilities include:

  • Working alongside our technicians to care for patients
  • Focus on the day to day of a demanding emergency/referral animal hospital
  • Managing incoming calls
  • Provide product information to our clients, including educating on general animal husbandry, and non medical pet care.
  • Problem solver and confident in trouble shooting
  • Scheduling and confirming appointments
  • Help to manage the flow of a busy hospital
  • Managing medical records, charts, reports and correspondence
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage time effectively.
  • Working alongside excellent mentors
  • Able to handle animals with ease
  • Cleaning, including patient care, laundry, post surgical instrument care

Job Requirements:

As our ideal candidate, you will:

  • Be comfortable handling animals
  • Have prior experience assisting with medical procedures, administering medication and client care, an asset
  • Have excellent communication skills
  • Have the ability to learn medical terminology
  • Be comfortable working under pressure, while keeping calm
  • Have a sense of good judgment
  • Be proactive and take initiatives to work effectively without supervision
  • Be able to prioritize your workload
  • Bona Fida requirement: Able to lift 50 pounds
  • Compassion for people and their pets
  • Bilingualism is an asset
