Your Opportunity:
The Clinical Quality Consultant is part of the Quality Improvement team within the Integrated Quality Management (IQM) portfolio supporting the Edmonton Zone. This position has the opportunity to work in a diverse range of healthcare environments, and with staff and leaders at many levels of the organization. The Clinical Quality Consultant works in a dyad relationship with a Clinical Safety Leader, as well as with members of the IQM team to provide ongoing leadership in fostering and embedding a continuous quality improvement culture.

Reporting to the Manager, Quality and Patient Safety, the Clinical Quality Consultant plays an important role as a leader in the development and promotion of best practice in quality improvement and patient safety. The Clinical Quality Consultant develops, coordinates and facilitates the provision of quality improvement services at the site or zone level. Through collaboration and consultation with stakeholders, the position is responsible for influencing culture change through continual representation of the quality management body of knowledge in strategic program development; influencing change management approaches in development and implementation of new programs and improvement initiatives; and for facilitating the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of quality improvement initiatives related to service improvement, patient safety and accreditation standards. The Clinical Quality Consultant will develop and maintain strong working relationships with administrative and clinical leaders at the site, zone and sector level. With broad knowledge of improvement science, the consultant works with a high degree of independence, requires a high tolerance for ambiguity, and well-developed relationship building skills. Significant creativity is required by consultants as they draw on the broad body of quality management knowledge that informs the work. Specific job duties vary by site assignment and geographic location.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in a related field. Minimum of 5 years of recent clinical and/or administrative healthcare experience. Experience and skills in group facilitation techniques. Previous experience working on a quality improvement project required. Proficiency with computer skills in Microsoft Office suite, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

Additional Required Qualifications:
Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and team building skills. Ability to research, monitor, and analyze data for use in decision making and recommendations. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing. Must be able to work in multiple work settings (acute care site, administrative sites, and rural sites). Travel will be required. Displays initiative and the ability to work independently and interdependently. Self-directed and able to work with minimal supervision. Well-developed critical thinking skills and ability to problem-solve. Ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal relationships. Demonstrated ability to lead change in a complex environment based on sound principles.

Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in clinical field, business, or healthcare administration preferred. AIW and IHI Open School training an asset. Visio experience is an asset.
