We are looking to hire a full-time Contracts Manager to develop and manage contracts and subcontracts for one or more construction projects. The ideal candidate will be proficient in communicating with various stakeholders and internal partners, ensuring that the contracts conform to any relevant legislation and align with our company or project goals. This is an exciting position that will be involved in complex projects in our specialized areas of marine construction, land foundations and dredging.
The Contracts Manager will interpret contract requirements, provide advice and recommendations to the businesses and minimize risk exposure.
Understand the rights and liabilities of the project contract
Advise the Project Manager regarding required actions to protect company rights and limit liabilities exposure
Prepare position papers for the Project Manager for any contractual issue that may appear during the execution of a project
Serve as the liaison between vendors, contractors, and the client; create, manage and negotiate contracts between parties
Manage and supervise commercial contracts for procurement of services and equipment (include formation, administration and close out) for a variety of construction projects
Organize and prepare commercial component of RFQ tender processes including scheduling, issuing, managing RFIs, evaluating bid proposals, awarding tender processes
Write, review, analyze, modify, and negotiate contracts and contract modification to minimize levels of risk
Draft, issue and monitor execution of contracts, purchase orders, service orders, change orders
Negotiate with suppliers, assess risk and approve payments
Analyze supplier contractual terms and conditions and recommend innovative approaches to contract requirements, obligations and risk exposure
Communicate consistent contractual positions
Other duties as required
Required Skills & Qualifications
Education & Experience
Bachelors Degree in Business Administration or Engineering required, MBA is an asset
5+ years in contract management, procurement management, vendor management and experience negotiating commercial purchasing of complex infrastructure projects
Knowledge, Skills & Competencies
Success handling complex high dollar contracts specific to the purchase of construction materials and services
Strong negotiation skills with demonstrated success leading a Procurement team
Excellent communication skills with demonstrated ability to develop and communicate clearly with all levels of stakeholders.
Strong knowledge of contract law
Proficiency in SAP, JD Edwards, Oracle, MS Office platforms is an asset
Must be legally eligible to work for any employer in Canada
Ability to travel as required by the project
