The Senior Category Manager – Small Format contributes to PepsiCo Beverages Canada’s success by leading the development of category insights and best practices to deliver against convenience and gas retailer objectives, strategies and opportunities. The primary objectives of this role are to drive accelerated growth, market share and space gains, and elevated customer partnership through insights. This person will interpret business data lead the development of fact-based recommendations that support achievement of both the retailer and PBC sales and profit objectives. The Senior Category Manager is responsible for providing insights and support to their Category and Space Manager and the broader Retail Sales Team through an on-going assessment and monitoring to determine the effectiveness of various business tactics. They will be asked to work closely with the Small Format Sales Strategy team to support the development of insights that influence activation toward our strategic business plan across convenience and gas customers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Establish strong working relationship with customers at a director level and below to increase depth of understanding and influence; leverage retailer data sources and direct wiring
  • Lead the development of insights that influence activation of our strategic business plan
  • Lead the development of selling platforms to support the insights led activation of our initiatives through the AOP planning process
  • Coach and lead the activation of category plans through the assortment, plan-o-gram and feature planning process with their category and space manager (direct reports)
  • Monitor progress towards achievement of retailer and PBC business objectives and effectives of tactics, recommend improvements where required
  • Coach and lead the development fact based plans from analysis and support the preparation of effective account presentations and recommendations
  • Lead and support the use of the analytic process and all analytic tools with their team in order to successfully achieve all Category Management AOP objectives
Qualifications/Requirements

Bachelor’s degree required; MBA degree preferred
5-10 years’ experience in CPG Sales with 2+ years key account management; field sales experience and /or direct store delivery environment an asset
Category management, shelf management or business analysis experience in consumer products goods industry an asset;
Knowledge of consumer brand marketing;
Self-starter, able to work independently on projects
Solid leadership and interpersonal skills required
Strong analytical skills, able to synthesize information to develop understanding and insights
Strong communication and presentation skills required
Demonstrated computer proficiency: Microsoft Suite
Technical expertise with Nielsen Answers an asset
Solid organizational and project management skills – able to establish priorities, strong detailed execution and ability to multi-task;
Possess a valid driver's license and own vehicle
Some business travel required
