Reporting to the Manager, Field Logistics, or designate, performs duties related to transporting personnel/donors by driving a vehicle with seating capacity of up to 25 passengers.

Transports personnel and/or donors to and from clinics assisting in embarking and disembarking passengers
Collects/delivers blood and blood products, equipment and/or supplies to/from Centre and to/from donor collection sites
Sets up, prepares, arranges and dismantles appropriate donor clinic equipment by reference to site maps and equipment checklists
Delivers blood and blood products to hospitals, storage facilities, airports and public carriers
Prepares and organizes required blood product packaging materials such as boxes, filler packaging, ice/gel packs as required and temperature recorders and packs blood/specimens for transport to laboratory
Performs pre-trip inspections and routine vehicle maintenance
Reports equipment problems
Prepares and packs clinic equipment
Relieves Donor Service Representative during assigned breaks at clinics
Completes collection at prep table including verification of labels
Prepares and packs units and specimens and documents for transfer
Seals collection pack tubing into the required number of segments
Assists with the training of new drivers
Maintains documentation such as logbooks and vehicle inspection reports
Maintains storage facilities within Materials Management Warehouse
Performs other related duties as assigned

Required Skills

Grade 12 plus one years' recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
Valid class IV (unrestricted) vehicle license
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
Ability to deal with others effectively
Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position
Ability to organize work
Ability to operate related equipment
