Department Overview

  • Acquire new HNW clients through internal and external sources
  • Deliver a legendary HNW Client Experience to existing and prospective clients
  • Conduct an in-depth discovery through goals-based discovery including client assets and risk tolerance and create a comprehensive Wealth Plan with tailored HNW strategies
  • Identify referral opportunities and coordinate the team of Partners/Advisors to work collaboratively together to execute an integrated Plan with the goal of consolidating assets and ensuring TD is primary Financial Institution
  • For all new clients, work collaboratively with the Senior Private Banker (SPB) for banking solutions (cash management and credit) and focus on a seamless transition of relationship management to the SPB
  • Place specific focus on onboarding clients with investment needs to Investment Management (PIC/PIA).
  • Where there is no Investment Management relationship, WA will:
  • Participate in client annual review meetings where the SPB is the Relationship Manager and provide advice on recommended modifications to the Plan as is necessary
  • Work collaboratively with SPB to partner with Private Trust, WAS and the broader organization to meet additional planning and product/solution needs (i.e. Will & Estate Planner)
  • Cross-sell Private Trust services, in specific markets
  • Maintain an active pipeline of clients referred and establish contact planning practices to drive continued client engagement
  • Work proactively with direct manager to develop improved client experience, operational and Practice Management practices, and overall personal development
  • Represent Private Wealth Management and TDBG to the general public in a professional manner
  • Participate in the local community and support TDBG charity and community initiatives
  • Engage in a thorough client discovery process and identity opportunities for Partner referrals
  • Create comprehensive Wealth Financial Plans and with some knowledge of banking products/solutions.

Job Description

  • Develop and execute on a robust Personal Development Plan
  • Ongoing personal commitment to self-development staying abreast of appropriate industry and advice knowledge and accreditation where appropriate
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge and understanding of TDBG policies and procedures, industry trends and protect the interests and reputation of TDBG and its clients by continuous compliance to them
  • Develop / implement sales strategies to proactively attract, acquire and retain customers / sales opportunities and referrals, to increase profitability and enable business growth
  • Participate in initiatives that cross Private Banking or TDBG as a subject matter expert helping to provide guidance for complex situations

  • Plan and execute business development activities, review and communicate results, and adjust tactics accordingly

  • Protect the interests of the organization – identify and manage risks, and escalate non-standard, high risk transactions / activities as necessary
  • Ensure documentation that is prepared / completed is accurate and properly reflects client / business intentions and is consistent with relevant rules / regulations
  • Identify, suggest and actively participate in process improvement opportunities
  • Actively manage relationships within and across various business lines/ corporate and/or control functions and ensure alignment with enterprise and/or regulatory requirements
  • Participate in cross-functional / enterprise initiatives as a subject matter expert helping to provide guidance for complex situations
  • Ensure necessary due diligence to support the accuracy of all customer transactions / activities
  • Keep abreast of emerging issues, trends, and evolving regulatory requirements and assess potential impacts
  • Maintain a culture of risk management and control, supported by effective processes in alignment with risk appetite
  • Assume responsibility to minimize operational and regulatory risk by complying with Bank and industry Code of Conduct
  • Participate fully as a member of the team, support a positive work environment that promotes service to the business, quality, innovation and teamwork and ensure timely communication of issues/ points of interest
  • Provide thought leadership and/ or industry knowledge for own area of expertise in own area and participate in knowledge transfer within the team and business unit
  • Keep current on emerging trends/ developments and grow knowledge of the business, related tools and techniques
  • Participate in personal performance management and development activities, including cross training within own team
  • Keep others informed and up-to-date about the status / progress of projects and / or all relevant or useful information related to day-to-day activities
  • Contribute to team development of skills and capabilities through mentorship of others, by sharing knowledge and experiences and leveraging best practices.
  • Lead, motivate and develop relationships with internal and external business partners / stakeholders to develop productive working relationships.

  • Act as a brand ambassador for your business area/function and the bank, both internally and/or externally
Job Requirements

  • Strong entrepreneurial spirit with a proven track record of prospecting and successfully signing new clients
  • Strong product knowledge across all asset classes that enable wholesome discussions on various wealth topics (tax planning techniques & structure i.e. oldco, opco, family trust, cross boarder issues etc.)
  • Influence relationships and broad network of external advisors
  • Anticipates longer term resource requirements
  • Identifies and solves complex sales operational problems
  • Recommends sales standards and operating methods
  • Communicates difficult sales concepts; converts information to compelling sales opportunities; influences and gains alignment across increasingly senior stakeholders
  • Undergraduate Degree, preferably in Commerce or Finance
  • Completion of the Canadian Securities Course (CSC)
  • Completion of the Personal Financial Planner (PFP) or Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation
  • Certified Retirement Specialist (CRS) or Certified International Wealth Manager Professional (CIWM) designation, is an asset
  • Professional Designations such as Maters of Business Administration (MBA), Chartered Accountant (CA), Bachelor of Laws (LLB), Certified Financial Analyst (CFA), Chartered Investment Manager (CIM), Trust & Estates Practitioner (TEP) are desirable.
