Reporting to the Service Manager, the Electrical Service Technician complete general electrical duties on projects and/or service sites. This role oversees and supervises assigned electrical apprentices as required. Duties also include electronic and mechanical repairs, in-house and on-site, and commission equipment as assigned.
The primary work location for this position is Red Deer however, candidates living in Southern Alberta will be considered.
Performs electrical, electronic, and mechanical repairs and commission equipment as assigned by complying with all UFA/Bar W, insurance company and government regulations.
Cross train, coach and support Electrical Service Apprentice Technicians and Service Technicians on day to day operations.
Coordinate customer relations by managing allocated calls efficiently to improve service and decrease costs. This includes planning for adequate tools and equipment necessary for efficient work.
Accountable for completing all required documentation correctly and in a timely manner.
Assist in development and contributing of ideas for operational and technical improvements to existing equipment and technology.
Ensure safe practices are being followed in accordance to Health and Safety policies and practices.
High school diploma. Journeyman or Master Electrician. Required to participate and be certified in CPCA PM-Training.
Previous experience in electrical, mechanical and petroleum troubleshooting.
Basic knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to manage multiple service/project work requests.
Exceptional customer/people skills.
Require mathematical and mechanical aptitude, an analytical approach to problem solving, physical strength, manual dexterity, good hand-eye coordination and an ability to work at heights.
Ability to read and interpret drawings and electrical code specifications. Knowledgeable about computerized machinery and efficient with hand tools.
Obtain industry specific OEM training and certifications.
Valid Class 5 license. Required to work away from home overnight when required. Required to be available to do 24 hour, 7 day service calls when scheduled.
Be able to pursue continuing education opportunities to enhance performance including registering and successfully completing apprenticeship school/training.
Willing to maintain a strong technical knowledge of assigned equipment through on the job training and training programs.
Responsible to read, understand and comply with UFA and client's Health, Safety and Environment Policies and Safe Work Practices and/or Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's).
