Our company is looking for a reliable Experienced Dispatcher to help in our day to day operations. Dispatch trucks to various Destinations that are best suited for our driving fleet and to meet customer loads scheduling needs. The successful candidate for this position needs to be able to adjust to last minute changes and work with drivers to schedule emergency pick-up or delivery for new or established clients when necessary. It's also important to realize you to be focused on the job from start to finish; there is rarely any downtime and you'll be taking calls and managing routes all day. For this reason, you must be highly organized and able to handle high amounts of volumes and have “Critical thinking” methods.

What we are looking for:

A strong experienced and knowledgeable dispatcher does much more than manage the phone.

You will need to position yourself as the reliable point of contact that can successfully balance the drivers health and safety with customer requirements. This can be a complicated and frustrating logistical process and requires a good deal of planning and experience. An essential part of your job will be able to coordinate and manage the most efficient loads to remain cost-effective as a company. This means you'll try to combine shipments based on their routes and timeline, to minimize how many trucks and drivers are out, and maximize routing for each load requirement with specific Company or Owner Operator within our driving fleet.

Our dispatcher's job is to co-ordinate and schedule drivers to pick up and deliver loads to customers or vendors.

Dispatchers are also responsible for keeping records, monitoring driver daily log hours for errors or violations and monitoring drivers' working hours and equipment availability.

Another part of the job is to know the location of all your drivers' in order to flag potential issues.

We have numerous computer programs to aid our dispatchers in their job, but much of the work requires good intuition and knowledge of the industry.

Monitor any sudden work or order schedule changes or road construction issues along with weather conditions and work with drivers to establish new re-routes for timely delivery

Record and maintain files and records of customer requests, work or services performed, charges, expenses, accessorial charges, and other dispatch information within our operating system for accurate account of each drivers trips..

Advise Customers / clients of any delays caused by traffic problems such as construction areas, accidents, congestion, weather conditions, and other hazards.

Assist and Development of assigning routes and maintain contact with drivers throughout the day

Collaborate with management to modify daily assignments to accommodate the needs of customers

Act as a communication liaison via phones or satellite messaging to and from drivers on the road

Cultivate strong relationships with drivers and customers to reduce the stress that comes with last minute schedule changes

If there are any special needs, such as when shipping chemicals or livestock, etc., it's your responsibility to identify these special conditional considerations and help drivers get the necessary documentation they need, to proceed and achieve the end delivery or pick up.


High school diploma/GED required

Must be able to work a flexible schedule that includes occasional evenings, weekends and holidays

Strong knowledge of both the Canadian and U.S. frequent transportation lanes

Ability to work in a team environment in high pressure situations

Strong written and oral communication skills are essential

Border Crossing procedures and Customs knowledge and requirements for both “PAPS and PARS”.

“Fleet Manager” software, “Load Link”, Satellite / Tracking software, P.C. Miler, Outlook email, Excel, word and other Microsoft programs.
