Stonehenge Therapeutic Community works together with individuals, families, and communities impacted by substance use and co-occurring mental health issues to restore hope, dignity, and self-respect, and to support ongoing opportunities for positive change and growth.
About the Role:
Our Residential Counsellors support clients attending our longer-term residential addiction treatment program in Guelph. Our approach to treatment is a group approach, based around peer support and mutual self help. Counsellors contribute to our clients' recovery journey by demonstrating positive and healthy behaviours (role modelling), engaging in supportive counselling, containment and crisis intervention, and participating alongside residents in community living activities (participating in mealtimes and outdoor recreation activities).
Stonehenge is one of only two funded Therapeutic Communities in Ontario. This is an excellent opportunity for those interested in a career in social work or counselling to work in and learn about a unique model of treatment.
This position will require a commitment of 4 shifts per month (at minimum), primarily over the weekends and to cover holidays. Our Counsellors must have availability to work days or afternoons and overnight shifts (as needed) on the weekend. Availability to work "on call" shifts also required, in addition to scheduled shifts.
Stonehenge Therapeutic Community accommodates the needs of applicants throughout the recruitment process in accordance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and Human Rights legislation. Should you require it, accommodation can be made at any point, upon request.
