The Research Coordinator/Consultant reports directly to the Emergency Department Manager and works closely with the Research Director on day to day activities. Under limited supervision, the Research Coordinator will be responsible for performing a range of tasks in support of departmental research objectives. The incumbent will require experience with ethics reviews, creation of data collection tools using paper/electronic databases, statistical analysis, and report generation.
The Research Coordinator will be responsible for meeting reporting requirements of the funding bodies. They will demonstrate ability to work with industry/non-industry partners in developing research protocols and conducting research. They will ensure good communication between key stakeholders of the projects. Provide mentorship/guidance & work direction to research assistants, coordinates data collection/entry for research projects. Responds to project inquires, provides information on process, project goals and objectives. Takes a lead role in the promotion and education of research to emergency staff. Works at all three adult sites in collaboration with other research staff in facilitating and conducting research. Ability to implement and coordinate research studies in a clinical setting in consultation with staff and the principal investigators. Coordinating research activities to ensure protocol compliance and that the highest clinical and ethical standards are met. Organizing and booking start up and close out visits with sponsors & local study team. Coordinating ethics applications, renewals, modifications etc. Ensuring account for new research studies is set up, ability to oversee and manage budget related to research project. Demonstrate tact & courtesy dealing with patients, staff and physicians. Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality of patient records.

RN/ Master's/ IMG with relevant research experience. Graduate or Terminal degree in Health Sciences/ Clinical Epidemiology, or Pharmacology. Must have knowledge of Good Clinical Practice Guidelines. Demonstrated proficient analytical, organizational, planning, interpersonal, communication, leadership and problem solving skills. Demonstrated ability to motivate and take initiative, be resourceful, self-directed, energetic and creative. Demonstrated ability to work both independently and with a multidisciplinary team. Able to plan, problem-solve, and organize multiple tasks and priorities. Perception, initiative, good judgment and concern for detail and accuracy. 1 to 3 years recent clinical Emergency experience, preferably in an adult setting or substantial experience in clinical or epidemiological research. Bachelor’s degree in Nursing with 5 plus years of directly related experience is also considered.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Preference will be given to candidates with evidence of formal research training or relevant experience working on research protocols in a clinical setting. Related coursework in statistics would be a strong asset. Demonstrated computer skills with knowledge of Excel, Word & PowerPoint and familiar with AHS/U of C HR and financial management applications are desirable.
