Qualifications:
Related degree or diploma preferred, or equivalent experience.
Minimum of five years of experience working in Adult Learning.
Experience working with the delivery of Information Technology training and/or within an Information Technology department will be an advantage.
Experience with Quality Systems, Continuous Process Improvement, Lean or Agile Methodologies will be an advantage.
Experience with staff development and/or human resources management.
Demonstrated knowledge of the issues and implications of distance learning, along with mitigation strategies for dealing with them.
Adept at with common desktop applications such as Microsoft Office 365
Knowledge of trends in computer technology relating to software.

E-Learning Specialist

Major Job Function:The E-Learning Specialist works closely with and reports to the Senior Director of IT Operations. The role is responsible for ensuring that staff and other stakeholders (end-users) at the College are provided with the required skills to effectively operate and harness the full potential of the College’s various enterprise IT applications and systems.

Primary responsibilities of this role are to provide and facilitate enterprise application and process training for College Staff in the manner that is best suited to achieve business objectives. Working with the College’s Business Analysts and other IT staff, the e-Learning and User Experience Specialist will advocate to ensure that end-users benefit from a business outcome driven, high quality experience using with the College’s various enterprise applications.

The success of the individual in this role will include the adoption rates related to various digital systems in use at the college, and overall user satisfaction with the efficacy of the training provided towards the fulfillment of departmental responsibilities.

To keep up with the internal software team on changes and upcoming developments within in-house software applications, the specialist will also participate in internal Software Quality Assurance activities, representing user interests towards assessing whether the minimum viability of the system has been achieved.

The role will also collaborate closely with the Centre for Teaching and Learning and Continuing Education and Corporate Training departments to ensure that high quality standards and a coherent training development and delivery approach is maintained.

This position will be based out of Slave Lake.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Strategy & Planning

Align training approach and prioritize deliverables in accordance with the College’s strategic goals and objectives.
Coordinate with department heads and front-line application users to assess current user experience, training needs and objectives.
Create, administer, analyze, and report on end user needs assessments and skills assessments related to various applications and workflows.
Develop and coordinate an overall training curriculum for end users of all levels.
Ensure that training and user readiness aspects related to planned and ongoing projects are addressed.
Participate in budgeting, planning and other activities when required.
Acquisition & Deployment

Assess, recommend, and liaise internally, or with vendors as appropriate, to purchase courseware and training services, and/or to support the development of appropriate courseware internally.
Participate in identification and recruitment of instructors and/or external course providers where required.
Operational

Proactively support Continuous Process Improvement at the College, participate in various Lean Operations Management activities including daily standup meetings, and work closely with Business Product Owners and IT staff on Scrum activities related to ongoing projects. Coaching will be provided in this area.
Participate in the College’s Advisory Committee on Educational Technologies (ACET) and other internal and external committees as appropriate.
Collaborate with the Centre for Teaching and Education.
Design, develop, deliver internal training sessions or 1-on-1 coaching and instruction as appropriate.
Ensure relevance and currency of training resources and user documentation.
Create and communicate training schedules in consultation with departmental decision makers.
Track training participants’ status and results in systems as appropriate.
Create and administer training event feedback mechanisms. Analyze results, make training improvements, and integrate changes in curriculum and/or courses.
Work with various IT staff to integrate user feedback in system and business workflow improvements, and to keep apprised of changes and upcoming developments in in-house software applications.
Support Quality Assurance activities and User Acceptance Testing and relay user feedback on issues to appropriate IT staff.

Work Conditions:
Occasional travel between College Campuses will be required.
