The Health & Safety Manager is a strong proponent and initiator for safety on the job, and will be instrumental in enhancing the Society’s ‘health & safety’ culture.

They will provide guidance and expertise in the development, implementation, and ongoing monitoring and assessment of Cool Aid’s OHS Program. The OHS Manager brings demonstrated experience in developing, implementing and maintaining OHS programs including: exposure control, violence prevention, risks assessments and training.

Through ongoing development of the OHS program, the OHS Manager will achieve and maintain compliance with WorkSafeBC Act & Regulations.

A narrow selection of the larger scope and responsibilities for this position are as follows:

Develop and maintain hazard and risk assessments for all areas required by regulation, and as needed for new programs, services and identified risks. Examples include exposure control, violence prevention and working alone.
Develop program specific audit tools, and conduct audits to evaluate various areas of the OHS program.
Oversee and participate in the completion of incident investigations. Track investigations and risk assessment action items using SharePoint data base and follow-up with management to ensure completion.
Develop, facilitate and evaluate education and training programs including standard and customized training to meet the unique and ongoing needs of the Society. Training programs include but are not limited to WHMIS, OHS Program Training, and CPI NVCI Training.
Consult, coach, mentor and provide support to managers, coordinators, supervisors and employees on OHS program elements and responsibilities.
Consult and investigate observed or reported health and safety hazards. Work with management to determine reasonable, effective and timely solutions.

Qualifications

Completion of a minimum of one year university certificate program in Occupational Health & Safety.
Five (5) years of related experience in the health and safety field.
Demonstrated related practical experience in a capacity where you lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of various health & safety programs and initiatives.
Other professional safety designations shall be considered an asset.

Requirements

Canadian Registered Safety Professional Designation.
Complete the Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General Criminal Record Check.

Job Information

Hourly Wage Rate $35.05.
Work Location 101 – 749 Pandora Ave.
Work Days Monday – Friday.
Shift Times 8:30 am – 4:30 pm.
Weekly Hours: 40 hours.
Union: Exempt.
Benefits Eligible for 100% employer paid benefits.
Job Type Full time - Permanent.
