Position Title: Labourer

Team and Location: Refinery in Burnaby, BC

Position Summary:
Working in the Refinery Maintenance Department as part of the Laborer Team. The role involves general laborer responsibilities as well as supporting chemical deliveries, confined space entry, breathing air equipment, fork lift deliveries, tool repairs and servicing, safety watch responsibilities as well as various other activities associated with the maintenance and operation of the refinery including facility repairs.

Qualifications and Skills:
The successful candidate embraces positive change and is committed to help further advance the safety and reliability culture at the refinery.
The successful candidate must hold a Construction Craft Worker (Laborer) Interprovincial Red Seal or a minimum of 4 years of experience in a similar position in an industrial setting.
High School Diploma or equivalent
Valid Class 5 Driver’s license
Forklift Certification and experience
Demonstrated Strong Teamwork, collaboration and interpersonal skills
Demonstrated ability to positively interact and communicate with personnel from all divisions and levels of the company incl. contractors
Perform effectively under conditions of a fluctuating workload with frequent changes and competing demands
Experience working in the Petrochemical Industry is preferred.

Experience with the following systems is an asset:
Skid Steer/Bob Cat operator
SCBA and Fresh Air supply Monitoring Breathing Air Attendant
Snow Removal and De-Icing equipment
Waste clean-up, management, removal and disposal
Elevated Platform experience and certification
Flat Deck and Dump Truck
Working at heights and use of fall protection systems and equipment
Traffic Control
Fire Safety procedures, fire extinguisher use, Fire/Spark Watch
Fuel transfer and handling for mobile equipment
Chemical handling, transfer and disposal. WHMIS and TDG
An ability to work as part of a team and support a positive work culture
