General Manager, Capital Projects
Vernon, BC

The General Manager, Capital Projects is responsible for leading the lumber and VBB capital program which requires working effectively with the Tolko Capital Committee of the Board. The General Manager, Capital Projects is accountable for the overall direction of the capital planning and execution process and will work with other General Managers and Plant Managers on the reinvestment in existing facilities.

Reporting to the Vice President, Solid Wood, the principal objective is to optimize the return on investment for assets over the long term through effective deployment of capital investments. This position must be able to facilitate innovative brain storming sessions utilizing the appropriate internal and external resources and work with management to evaluate options and bring forward plans for approval.

The Incumbent is required to ensure an effective alignment exists between the executive leadership team, operational managers and external project managers, while ensuring the capital program supports the overall business unit and product sector plan which covers fiber, operations, products and customers.

Qualifications:
Minimum of 10 years related experience and 5 years in a supervisory capacity
University Degree or Technical Diploma in a relevant field preferred
Demonstrated experience in planning, goal-setting and project management
Knowledge of capital projects, manufacturing and maintenance processes, and equipment
Demonstrated experience in leading and managing change
Proven leadership ability combined with excellent communication, problem solving and critical thinking skills
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to maintain effective partnerships are essential
Project and/or Change Management Certifications are considered an asset
