The Port Dover Health Centre is a new medical facility which is expanding to add in another family physician. We are seeking either one full time or two part-time Medical Office Assistants to join our team. The candidates must be people oriented as we strive to provide the best patient care and feel that care begins at the first voice or face our patients’ experience. The candidates must be empathetic to our patient needs at all times and be prepared to help the physicians and pharmacy team as needed.

Job duties include:

- Welcoming patients to the clinic as they arrive for their medical appointments

- Register patients by always checking that our system has their updated information

- Answering the phone in a timely manner, booking appointments and answering any questions our patients may have

- Organizing incoming faxes to appropriate folder for physician and nursing team

- Assisting patients with aspects of telemedicine to allow virtual care when warranted

- Light cleaning of the medical space

- OHIP billing & reconciliation activities

- Patient care follow up activities as assigned, including getting specialist referrals ready and sent off.

- Proficient in MS Office (MS Word, Excel) and prior experience with Practice Solutions software is an asset

- Performing account receivable duties

- Performing other administrative duties as required

-Ensuring patient confidentiality by maintaining a clean and organized reception area

Qualifications:

- Grade 12 or equivalent

- 2+ years of working experience in a similar environment

- Graduate of a Medical Office Assistant program or experience in the field

- Provide optimal customer service to patients with a positive and friendly attitude

- Must be able to multi-task, have excellent telephone skills, attention to detail

- Superior oral communication skills; ability to interact and build rapport with patients

- Strong organizational skills; ability to work productively in a fast-paced environment

- Must be able to work as team

Job Types:

- Part-time, Permanent; - 16-24 hours per week approximately

- Full-time, Permanent; 35-40 hours per week approximately

- Must be available days and possibly 1 or 2 evenings and potentially 1 Saturday per month
