As Legal Counsel, you will provide management with effective advice concerning legal, risk, compliance and privacy issues. You will work closely with the Senior Legal Counsel to support the business in all areas, including corporate/commercial contracts, HR, IT/Data, marketing, privacy, risk and compliance. Legal Counsel will work closely with the Senior Legal Counsel and the Chief Privacy Officer to support the legal needs of FCT in all areas.

Negotiate and draft corporate/commercial contracts;
Work closely with business unit leaders on strategic issues involving legal feedback;
Advise on technology law issues, including software licensing agreements and EULAsSupport on privacy and other trademark issues;
Support HR on employment issues;
Support IT on contractual and compliance issues;
Assist with RFPs and other procurement efforts;
Review and approve marketing materials;
Assist with various M&A activities/efforts;
Work closely with digital team relating to tech/data issues

Member in good standing of the Law Society of Ontario or another provincial law society (preferably 5 to 7 years’ experience);
Bilingual (French/English) is strongly preferred, but not required;
Strong negotiation and drafting skills;
Self-starter with a strong work ethic and the ability to take initiative;
Willingness to quickly adapt to change;
Able to juggle multiple priorities and tasks in a fast paced environment;
High degree of accuracy and follow-through in completing work assignments;
Excellent written and oral communication skills and interpersonal skills; and
A strong entrepreneurial spirit
