We are adding a new position to our best in class team and seeking a Category Manager for our Computing Solutions product line.
This position is responsible to manage our Computing Solutions products/solutions and consistently increase sales revenue to drive sustainable growth. A successful Category Manager should have a focus on profitability of their category while managing the vendor relationships and product management.
The successful Category Manager will have extensive experience in understanding customer needs, the education environment (EDU), and the included product. They will have an EDU mindset and a full comprehension of marketing and sales principles.
Develop a long-term growth strategy for the category, be accountable and take ownership of category revenue budgets and forecasts
Operates as an SME (subject matter expert) on product categories, product lines, vendors and market pricing
Educate sales team with focused insights regarding the product and category.
Maintain close/direct communication with sales team with inclusion of sales management (RVP level) Maintains visibility on large sales opportunities
Collaborate with TROX training team to develop category specific training for new and existing Account Executives
Analyze data or insights to determine industry and customer trends
Determine which partners belong in the category versus which ones are truly strategic and will have heaviest impact on revenue and margin
Manage stable of vendor partners with a focus on differentiating TROX from competitors
Develop exit strategies for unsuccessful products/partners
Foster trusting relationships with vendors to achieve better pricing and quality of services
Determine the positioning of a product category and individual products to maximize visibility within the sales organization (in other words...why to buy?)
Collaborate with marketing teams to determine competitive pricing and promotional activities of a product category
Develop forecasts for each partner in the category and work with Business Intelligence/Sales Ops team to track category growth, market composition and trends
Closely focus on margin management and maximizing profitability
Participate in regular QBR’s with strategic partners leveraging cross-function team members as appropriate
Manage the internal TROX marketing website, update marketing materials, information on a regular basis
Work with internal teams, Sales Enablement and Marketing, to focus communication to better realize opportunities.
Proven experience in category management or product sales working within the device or OEM industry, Education or Consumer product experience preferred
Solid knowledge of category management, marketing and sales principles
Ideally has worked in distribution, large reseller or product centric technology company
Ability to sell and interface effectively with all levels of an organization, internal and external
Understanding of data analysis and forecasting methods
Proficient in MS Office, in particular Excel and Power Point
An analytical mind with a strategic ability
Excellent communication and people skills
BS/BA in business administration, marketing or related field preferred
Valid passport, North American travel required
