We’re looking for a Solution Design Manager to join ICON Media’s Design and Solution Team. Reporting to our VP of Sales, your role would be to design and engineer high quality audio-visual systems. The ideal candidate is a team player with excellent communication skills. Committed to providing clients with tailored AV solutions, he or she enjoys collaborating with the project team to create more usable and dynamic spaces. Continually aware of emerging trends, he/she champions exciting new technology within the context of industry best practices. You are able to take direction well, continuously pursuing the resources you need to uphold tight project timelines. Calm and professional, you are respectful while working alongside design teams, contributing audiovisual solutions which help bring their vision to life.


The Solution Design Manager will bring industry experience and their subject-matter expertise in working directly with the Sales Team to support the sales cycle to:

  • Manage the solution design team and provide ongoing constructive feedback
  • Assign and ensure progress and completion of projects within the given timeframe
  • Design and integrate high-quality AV systems that meet budgets and project timelines
  • Produce all project deliverables including tender documentation, design briefs, opinion of cost documentation, site job reports and computer models
  • Create design and installation documents for unique sites which will double as a maintenance guide.
  • Produce AV system drawing packages suitable for bid purposes.
  • Packages may include drawing schedules, device location drawings, sightline studies, conduit risers, etc.
  • Coordinate with architects, interior designers and other consultants to ensure all audiovisual equipment is aligned from an installation and maintenance perspective
  • Calculate power and heat loads
  • Attend all project-related meetings including design coordination, bidder review and site construction meetings
  • Conduct AV system deficiency review visits at the completion of AV installation to verify design and enforce company standards.
  • Seek out AV best practices, emerging technologies and process efficiencies in order to refine company standards
  • Other responsibilities as required

*Technical Knowledge & Skills*

  • Two or more years of experience in the field of audiovisual design, architecture, project management or field engineering
  • Familiarity with electrical, mechanical and telecommunications systems in addition to building, and electrical codes
  • Experience working at a design consulting firm or audiovisual integrator considered an asset

*Key Competencies/Qualifications*

  • Certified Technology Specialist (CTS) designation is an asset
  • Manufacturer Training is an asset
  • AutoCAD MEP, REVIT MEP, or Solidworks experience
  • Ability to work in complex environments often driven by project deadlines
  • Experience working at a design consulting firm or an audiovisual integrator is an asset
