Do you have a minimum of 2-3 years’ experience, or a combination of education and experience in the marketing field? In your role as Assistant Category Manager with The North West Company (NWC), you will participate in the development and execution of marketing plans and initiatives based on consumer, demographic, and sales market data along with feedback from the field.

Your Role:
Participate in the management of assortment, pricing, markdowns, communications, selling channels, and the interpretation of customer research;
Identify and aggressively pursue key industry opportunities in both existing NCR and other markets that NCR could serve;
Work closely with the NCR Regional teams to ensure new opportunities in existing and neighbouring markets are quickly recognized and pursued;
Build and maintain a list of all tender opportunities, as well as a system to quantify the success and future opportunity for each;
Input data into Excel spreadsheets for departmental processes;
Develop marketing material to be used to promote products and services offered through Special Orders;
Assist in the execution of category plans and management strategies;
Provide support to attain financial performance goals, related to sales, gross margin, and inventory productivity; and
Attend regional trade events to increase the visibility of NWC and the products and services that we offer.

Desired Skills & Experience:
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint;
Post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field is considered an asset;
Strong analytical and problem solving abilities, coupled with proven organizational, planning and prioritizing skills;
Effective communication and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to provide superior customer service;
Ability to manage multiple projects, tasks, and assignments under strict timelines within a fast-paced environment;
Working knowledge of how Marketing, Supply & Logistics, and Store operations optimally work together to form a value chain in a retail environment;
Must be detail conscious and demonstrate a high level of accuracy;
Self-motivated with a strong sense of initiative;
Have the desire to develop an in-depth understanding of NWC’s customers; and
Demonstrated ability to maintain confidential information.
