Circle Craft is a unique BC Artist Co-operative dedicated to providing opportunities for craftspeople to connect with the community. Circle Craft Co-operative is presently inviting applications for Bookkeeper. Reporting to the Board President and Co-op Manager, the Bookkeeper is responsible for maintaining the financial records of a company by accurately recording the day to day financial transactions of the company. This role requires deft balancing of priorities. We are looking for an individual with a high level of knowledge in current bookkeeping practices, keen attention to detail, and great communication and problem-solving skills. In addition, a heartfelt interest in the Canadian cultural landscape would be an asset. This is a part time position requiring approximately 15 hours per week (currently Tuesday/Thursday, but days can be flexible).
Reconciling daily and monthly sales reports and accounts
Recording and ensuring payment of all bills and invoices
Creating and issuing invoices when needed, including follow-up on accounts receivable
Monitoring cash balances and arranging transfers as needed
Processing and reconciling mid-month advances and monthly payroll (collecting timesheets for all employees, running payroll, calculating stat pay for employees, making CRA remittances, tracking vacation pay, managing expense reimbursements, filing and disbursement of T4s, filing and disbursement of ROE’s for terminated employees, health benefits deductions, etc.)
Processing monthly commissions for member artist sales
Track, file and pay PST monthly
Track GST monthly, remit installments, and pay annually
Provide monthly reporting and other requests for information to the Board of Directors
Assist with annual budget preparation
Preparing documents for and assisting with yearly audits
Knowledge of bookkeeping practices and generally accepted accounting principles and procedures
Proficient in Quickbooks Desktop & Ceridian
Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulatory requirements
Knowledge of data management and financial data analysis
Bookkeeping certification, an associate degree in accounting, finance or business is an asset
Maintaining paperless office and document storage
Sound computer skills, including all Microsoft Office programs.
Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills.
Effective time management and organizational skills.
Mature judgement and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work under pressure
