Pourquoi ce role est-il important?

This role is accountable for product quality compliance, food safety management and the delivery of established milestones to achieve Loblaw quality strategy and objectives. The Senior Quality Assurance Specialist works collaboratively with control brand product development teams, vendors and other business stakeholders, including the broader QA team, to support the new product development process. The role is responsible for ensuring product compliance with Loblaw food safety and quality requirements and delivery of a consistent brand experience.

Must have functional knowledge of assigned categories, including key understanding of various manufacturing techniques, knowledge of related ingredients and properties in various applications, knowledge of process variables that impact final product and any applicable industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Must be able to conduct a thorough product risk assessment before a project starts to ensure that all risks to the performance of the product from a quality and food safety perspective are considered and recommendations are provided to attain a high level of compliance.
Work with the product developers, business partners and vendors through all stages of the product development process to ensure product, food safety and quality assurance details, including specifications are delivered.
Contribute to meeting milestone and plan dates by performing critical points related to the new product development process, including the release of new products (QA Clearing).
Ensure projects meet requirements based on health and safety, company policies, regulations, functionality, store, and customer expectations.
Participate in the development of packaging label copy to ensure the appropriate quality and safety related information has been included (i.e. precautionary statements).
Support the development of accurate/comprehensive product specifications.
Work with vendor to conduct appropriate shelf life and travel testing.
Liaise with team members to ensure all aspects of business needs are addressed - Product Developer, Regulatory Affairs, Product Manager, Central Standards and Analytics, QA Vendor Management team, etc.
Attend productions (including plant trials and first productions) and/or conduct sample evaluation to ensure product quality consistency, and determine on-going acceptability of existing products.
Review product test results for compliance to specifications. Report trends and investigate non-compliances, ensuring that corrective/preventative actions are implemented.
Maintain brand integrity by upholding the Loblaw food safety and quality brand standards.
Act with pace and efficiency during investigations and ensure timely resolution of non-plant controllable (formula related) customer complaints, food safety and quality issues that meet business needs.
Provide urgency and leadership during participation in investigations involving escalated issues and incident management, ensuring that business partners and other interested parties are kept informed on decisions made.
Proactively seek resolution to issues according to Management Information reports and resolve issues within appropriate timelines.
Provide input on vendor performance and product sensory evaluation during Product Life Cycle reviews and follow-up on action items as required.
Ensure customer expectations are met by participating in Product Consistency Program (product monitoring, post first production review, specification reviews) and conducting product quality reviews (PQR).
Contribute to team discussions with meaningful and insightful input based on previous experiences and understanding of best industry practices.
Understanding of the retail environment and the challenges from a quality and food safety perspective.
Have knowledge of distribution and handling of food products within supply chain.
Remain up-to-date on food safety and quality trends, issues and initiatives in the food industry.

Role Requirements:
University education or equivalent in food science
4-7 years related work experience in food manufacturing environment
Working knowledge of HACCP, GFSI and Quality Management Systems and their application in food industry
Knowledge of distribution and handling of products within manufacturing, supply chain and retail environments
Able to work effectively as an individual with minimal supervision and as a team member
Able to influence and engage effectively with all levels at retail/distribution, vendor and office locations
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Creative problem-solving skills
Straightforward practical way of thinking about things or dealing with problems
Result oriented, focused on business needs
Highly organized with a strong focus on detail and accuracy
Able to effectively prioritize and manage multiple projects and tasks
Experience with SAP, QM, QIM and BI are definite assets
Travel (may be required up to 2-3 days per week and could include local, national and international , requires use of personal vehicle)
