WHAT YOU'LL DO
As the Senior Estimator in our Vancouver office, you will work closely with the development, design and construction teams to ensure constructability, costing and profitability of projects. You will manage complex estimates, tendering and contracts. You will provide specifications and conceptual design estimates to in-house design and construction teams. You will oversee project budgets and budget reviews at preliminary and 30-60-90% stages of projects. You will coach, motivate and lead estimating team members to deliver on expectations.
Establish unit costs, labour rates, productivity factors and location impacts
Design and implement standards and processes for estimating area that considers the interface between accounting, project management and drawing platforms
Design, build and implement estimating models for various project types
Prepare quantity take-offs and estimates for medium to large projects
Oversee materials and pricing research
Design and implement an estimating databank
Advise on proposal procedures and create successful bid strategies
Analyze and make recommendations on proposals and negotiate contracts
Review documents and scope of work for the trade package and Omicron's own forces
Verify costs of Change Orders or Scope of Services Changes as required
Use estimating knowledge to assist with business development opportunities

8 - 10 years of estimating experience in a multi-disciplinary environment
Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Construction, Building Technology, Project Management, Engineering or Architecture
Working towards or has the PQS certification
Advanced MS Excel and MS Project knowledge to prepare cost quotes and bids
Working knowledge of Timberline Project Management
Familiarity with Revit and AutoCAD
Proven analytical and mathematical skills necessary for material and labour estimated and interpreting job costs reports
Ability to read and interpret building specifications, blueprints and as-builds
Expertise in various building types, traditional subcontractor work scopes, construction systems and methods, construction specifications, tendering practice and contract types
Possess a high level of critical and logical thinking, analysis and reasoning
Proven ability to establish and maintain effective and trusting relationships both internally and externally
Utilizes various forms of technology to collaborate in the preconstruction environment
