The Plan Operations Learning & Performance Advisor will lead the assessment, design, development, evaluation and facilitation of dynamic learning initiatives which support Plan Operations professional development goal of building pension and retirement professionals. The end-to-end design and development process should align with all adult learning principles. The Plan Operations Learning & Performance Advisor will be responsible for evolving and enhancing existing learning content to keep pace with learners’ needs and directly contribute to the curation of our knowledge management system. The candidate must have extensive experience with adult learning principles, advanced technical skills, experience with learning management systems (LMS) and the ability to ensure that all content produced is instructionally sound and effective for the target audience. This role also supports internal communications related to projects, initiatives and training needs as required.
Roles and Responsibilities
Take a lead role in planning, organizing, designing and implementing comprehensive learning content to support professional development of Plan Operations staff.
Design/Develop content that includes graphical interfaces, learning objects, animations, eLearning, and video/audio files.
Create concise, creative and effective program instruction. Course deliverables include design documents, storyboards, prototypes, instructor and participant materials.
In collaboration with other departments, including Human Resources Learning & Development, develop learning programs, processes and/or practices to support Plan Operations goals.
Help create, maintain and contribute to our internal knowledge management system known as iKNOW (confluence). Proactively curate content within our product/processing spaces and ensure governance and consistency is applied across the solution.
Manage and coordinate projects that support Plan Operations goals as required by organizational development and professional development initiatives.
Create project documentation including the design templates, standards, style guides, technical specifications, train-the-trainer and pilot materials.
Deploy post program analysis, measurement and evaluation tools to assess the efficiency and effectiveness of learning solutions and provide solutions for quality.
Apply solid instructional design skills, effective learning principles and creativity to course design - engage stakeholders at relevant stages of the learning process.
Lead in the creation of reusable learning objects, templates, and other course material that meet a broad range of instructional needs. Actively participate in ongoing learning and evaluating current programs and initiatives to develop recommendations that ensure communication is aligned with broader divisional communication strategies and meet corporate standards.
Recommend new and innovative methods of communication, in support of increasing employee awareness and engagement during change initiatives; ensure alignment to broader organizational objectives.
Act as a role model by modelling behaviors that support a collaborative, growth mindset, learner-centric culture.
Adult Learn Diploma or certification preferred
Certified Training and Development Professional (CSTD) an asset
Extensive experience in Instructional Design, Writing, Education, Communication enterprise systems
Demonstrated experience designing and developing curriculum development programs at enterprise level
Extensive experience with defined benefit pension plans or in retirement industry an asset
Coaching certification and/or experience designing and building soft skills programs an asset
Strong experience with eLearning development tools - such as Camtasia, Adobe Premier, Adobe Captivate, Lectora any Articulate products and e-learning content production lifecycle experience
- Adobe Premier and Articulate experience is preferable
Extensive experience with the Microsoft suite of tools including sharePoint online
Current knowledge and experience with learning measurement and evaluation methodologies and best practices
Solid knowledge of Learning Management Systems (LMS)
Experience with creating and editing video content
Minimum 7-10 years of experience in designing learning & development programs
Exceptional communication and presentation skills
Exceptional design and delivery skills
In-depth knowledge of principles and techniques of planning and organizing comprehensive training programs
Experience of designing and developing training curriculum with multiple delivery methods including audio, video and blended solutions.
Experience of working with a Knowledge Management, SharePoint and LMS/LCMS platforms.
Recognize and lead opportunities for effective change and improvement
Effectively organize and utilize input from diverse sources to achieve departmental goals
Assess client needs with respect to process improvements and training
Proven experience in the application of business process review standards
Excellent knowledge of systems and business processes
Creative ability to "think outside the box" for innovative solutions.
