We are currently looking for an Assistant Manager to work at our Starbucks location in Montreal, QC (McGill University Campus). This role is a hands-on experience that develops your supervisory experience, coaching skills, coffee/ tea passion and business acumen, all to build your understanding of store management. You will learn how to create success for a global brand, create and develop great teams, and building a meeting place in your community that nurtures customers. These foundational principles set up employees for success for careers in store management and leadership.

The Position Will...

Drive sales and brand image leveraging your business acumen, efficiency and problem-solving skills

  • Manage all areas of the operations during scheduled shifts
  • Communicate with the rest of the management team
  • Act as support system for all areas of the restaurant
  • Create weekly schedules
  • Maintain safe and healthy work environment by following organization standards and sanitation regulations

Engage the hearts and minds of your team and develop their skills so that they realize their personal best, both as individuals and as thriving teams

  • Provide direction, coaching and feedback for all team members
  • Coordinate employee training and ongoing development
  • Ensure proper staffing levels by recruiting, interviewing and hiring talented team members

Become a dynamic brand ambassador dedicated to driving and achieving results through your team

  • Interaction with guests, ensuring that their needs are our main focus while enforcing standards for individual performance
  • Ensure highest quality levels of products and hospitality
  • Keep equipment operating by training on machine operation; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; preventive maintenance; calling for repairs
  • Improve quality results by studying, evaluating, suggesting or supporting process changes; maintaining and improving the appearance of the store and coffee bar

The Competencies and Qualifications Needed...

  • 2+ years of retail / foodservice / customer service management experience
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and problem-solving skills
  • Entrepreneurial mentality with experience in a sales focused environment
  • Possess a strong understanding of all restaurant systems and operations
  • Experience in mentoring staff to maintain company standards in providing excellent guest services
  • Strong knowledge in making traditional coffee drinks
  • Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Certifications as required to comply with local Health codes
  • Ability to lift (10kg.), pull & push heavy loads & be exposed to extreme temperatures
  • Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written English and French as required
  • Able to work successfully in a fast-paced work environment
  • Ability to work full time (the work may require an excess of 40 hours per week) including variable hours including early mornings, evenings, weekends and/ or holidays.
