Clinical Assistant for Medical Legal Assessments

  • Scheduling and maintain management of all customers/assessments
  • Deliver completed reports in a timely manner and of the highest quality
  • Be responsible for assessing and providing screening tests to clients as needed
  • Format the report as per specific formatting requirements based on service level agreement with insurer(s)
  • Review entire report and edit all non-medical errors such as spelling and grammar errors
  • Document any inconsistencies and/or omissions within the report
  • Ensure all customer questions are answered as per the healthcare professional’s area of practice/scope
  • Add suggested corrections and/or questions related to the content of the report
  • Send the reviewed and edited report to the healthcare professional for approval, clarification and/or edits
  • Ensure reports are completed within 4 days of last assessment and submitted to the customer
  • Track and maintain workflow; as required, re-prioritize and communicate updates with appropriate team members
  • Complete appropriate billing for each report based on assessment(s) completed
  • Communicate with referral source as required
  • Submit final report to the appropriate portal based on the insurer/lawyer
  • Provide exemplary and timely customer support to internal and external stakeholders primarily by phone and electronic mail
  • Communicate with healthcare professionals if there are any inconsistencies and/or omissions within the report or if there are any suggested corrections and/or questions related to the content of the report
  • Communicate with healthcare professionals to ensure reports are of the highest quality are completed within time frame outlined in the service level agreement(s)
  • Liaise with clinicians to discuss reports and provide feedback as required
  • Communicate with the referring agency/insurance company/customer if clarification is required, if a healthcare professional has requested additional medical documents, and/or if a healthcare professional has requested diagnostic imaging; informing the referring agency/insurance company/customer if a report will be late
  • Maintain professional and courteous communication with all involved parties
  • Work as part of a team and collaborate with all parties involved
  • Assist with process and quality improvements
  • Provide input on process improvements to leadership
  • Maintain accurate records utilizing web-based tracking systems to monitor timelines, due dates and reporting expectations
  • Assist in the clinical coordination of files
  • Participate in training sessions for clinical and administrative staff

Qualifications:

  • Completion of a bachelor’s degree in a healthcare related field or recognized equivalent (Master’s Degree and asset)
  • 2-3 years of practical and related experience
  • 2-3 years of experience reviewing and editing reports
  • Excellent computer skills in MS Word, Excel, outlook is required
  • Excellent organization and coordination skills required to ensure timeliness, comprehensiveness and accuracy of report content
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to deal effectively with healthcare professionals to obtain or clarify information
  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking and deductive reasoning skills to interpret information, and identify specific areas that require further investigation
