What is the opportunity?
As Manager, Internal Audit Capital Markets you will assess the effectiveness of internal controls, risk management practices, corporate governance processes, and fraud prevention and detection, in the Capital Market platform of RBC. This role will be responsible to operate in a global resource model assigned to a home platform but capable of working in any RBC platform as part of a pool of resources.
Gain exposure to RBC products, services, businesses, platforms to become a subject matter expert. To develop audit and data analytics skills and to develop and apply a keen sense of challenge. Work with management in achieving business objectives by creating solutions to improve business operations, while remaining objective and independent.
What will you do?
Contribute to execution of Global Markets, Corporate and Investment Banking, and Office of COO audits in the annual plan, and formally documents audit evidence, in accordance with Internal Audit guidelines.
Assess effectiveness of internal controls, risk management practices and governance processes in order to draw conclusions to complete the audit programs.
Develop and draft recommendations relating to audit program conclusions, to the Senior Manager, Internal Audit.
Identifies the key risks and potential business impacts (with guidance from the Senior Manager leading the audit)
Supports the Senior Manager in their proactive and ongoing monitoring and discussions with business leaders.
Respond to stakeholder needs quickly and efficiently.
Build trusting relationships with Internal Audit peers and business partners.
Discover patterns, insights, trends and anomalies from straightforward analyses, data sets and visualization tools.
Execute basic analyses (e.g. descriptive) and create simple visualization using standard tools.
Develop hypothesis for advanced analytics by providing detailed and clear questions to the team
What do you need to succeed?
Minimum 2-3 years banking/capital markets/audit experience.
Professional Designation: CPA, CA, CIA or similar and / or equivalent undergraduate degree with financial services and / or risk management background.
In depth understanding of risk management or regulatory/compliance experience – Understanding of the principles of Operational Risk, Market Risk, Credit Risk, and Liquidity & Funding Risk.
Knowledge of OSFI regulations and understanding of business AML Compliance.
Effective strong written and oral communication skills
Strong knowledge of auditing principles and techniques.
Able to lead by example through provision of knowledge, teamwork, cross-unit cooperation and information.
Ability to work in a dynamically changing environment.
Knowledge of technology and data analytics
Required Accreditation: Internal Audit related designation such as CIA to be obtained within 24 months of joining IAS.
