Do you have a strong background in working on industrial and commercial building projects as a Contract Administrator with an engineering background? IBI Group’s Toronto-West office at 175 Galaxy Blvd is searching for a driven Senior Field Inspector to join its growing team! This office is multidisciplinary and houses a strong Civil Engineering practice with disciplines under Civil, Transportation, Electrical, Structural and Mechanical as well as a great Architecture team! This team is a close-knit, dynamic group involved in interesting social gatherings and events. We also pride ourselves in our involvement within the community and charitable events.

As a Contract Administrator / Construction Inspector with IBI Group, you will have the opportunity to work on a diversity of civil engineering projects. You will be joining a growing team currently working on unique projects delivering innovative design solutions and reviewing new construction methods. This will provide you the chance to be an important team member in the contract administration stage of single and multidisciplinary projects.

Most Of What You'll Be Doing:
Oversee construction of medium to high complexity Construction Project for various clients including industrial and commercial buildings
Chair progress meeting, Process Progress Payment, Verify compliance of the completed work with Contract Specifications, Liaison with the client and other stakeholders,
Regular site audits to ensure Public Safety
Ensure requirements of contract are complied with (e.g., workmanship, allowable materials, and tolerances)
Prepares reports, contemplated Change Orders, Change Orders, Certificate for Payment Review
Field testing and inspection of materials and equipment
Obtaining and recording as-constructed information
Maintaining sufficient data to determine periodic progress of the work
Reviewing Contractor’s requests for payment as to progress, quantities of work completed and materials delivered to site
Some drafting and design work dependent upon the candidate’s abilities
Coordination with fellow project team members.

Qualifications

What You'll Need To Have:
Minimum Civil Engineering Technologist Diploma or Civil Engineering Degree
10+ years’ experience in contract administration or field inspection experience in land development or municipal engineering projects – ideally for industrial and commercial buildings.
Previous experience with contract administration and tender documentation is an asset (including change orders, certificate for payment review)
Strong knowledge of standard engineering and construction principles, practices and techniques, plus pertinent codes, regulations and statutes
A vehicle and valid Ontario Driver’s License – ‘G’ Class
Working experience with MS Office, Windows and CADD applications an asset
Basic topographical surveying skills
Strong technical, analytical, interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to work independently with little supervision
Strong communication skills both written and verbal
