Position Description: This position reports to the Head Nurse. In an integrated care approach, the nurse will provide long-term care services for residents of Chez-Nous Cooperative Ltd. who are at levels 4 and 5. She will be part of the nursing team, the nursing assistant, and the care workers and, in the absence of the head nurse, she will supervise the team members. The person occupying the position must be able to work independently. It will also have to be flexible and available since it could be asked to take part in meetings or activities that will take place outside its regular working hours.
Summary of Responsibilities: Under the supervision of the Head Nurse, the main responsibilities of the nurse will be to; Ensure the care and safety of residents according to the criteria and standards established by the provincial government for manors in: "The Operational and Care Services Standards for Private Nursing Homes" and "Le Chez-Nous Ltée Cooperative's Policy Manual. " Implement the care plan for each resident of Chez-Nous, which is level 4 or 5 and ensure that each resident receives the best possible care; Ensure that his/her own professional status meets the standards and conditions required by the various levels of authority to obtain and maintain certification of operations by the Minister of Health and Social Services. Support the head nurse in her role of continuous improvement of service quality: patient rights and information, organisation of patient care, improvement of professional practices, policies and procedures, surveillance and prevention of infectious risks, health vigilance, individualization of care, etc. Provide the care necessary to maintain the well-being of residents; monitor the health status of each resident; ensure that treatments and medications are administered as prescribed by the head nurse; and maintain a medical record for each resident; and communicate with family members of residents, as required.
Requirements: A university degree from a school of nursing. Ability to communicate orally and in writing in French (if possible) and English. Experience working in a team environment with nurses, nursing assistants and care workers. Demonstrated ability for teamwork. Proof of a good working record with previous employers. Experience working in a long-term care home would be an asset.
Wage scale: To be negotiated.
Start date: Immediately or no later than January 25th, 2020
