Your mission as a Surgical Assistant
The mission of the Surgical Assistant at LASIK MD is to ensure that the OR runs smoothly and assist the Ophthalmologist in LASIK MD procedures. Tasks must be done with efficiency, complete accuracy, and with the utmost quality.
Thoroughly prep the OR for surgery-sterilize instruments, set up tools needed, etc. Account for all used materials.
Calibrate lasers and run tests regularly
Assist the ophthalmologist during procedures (pass tools, prep patient, etc.
Reassure patient during the procedure as needed
Complete reports and verify inventory on a daily, weekly and monthly basis
Any other tasks as per required by the Center Director or management team
Excellent verbal communication skills are needed in English
Must be receptive to feedback
Must work efficiently and execute tasks quickly, while managing personal stress and keeping calm at all times
Must have an eye for detail and good judgment skills, and always be alert
Must be organized and able to prioritize
Must be able to work autonomously and also collaboratively
Experience with and ability to learn computer software, including MS office
Comfortable standing for several hours at a time
Interest in health services field and comfortable with medical procedures and close contact with others
Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) are welcomed!
Experience in doctor’s office or other medical administrative experience would be an asset
Experience working in customer service and/or client care
Pharmacy Technician or Medical Device Reprocessing Technicians welcomed.
This is a permanent, full-time position. We offer a competitive compensation, bonuses and benefits. Candidates must be willing to work 40 hours per week, on a flexible schedule (days, evenings and weekends). A full training is given to all new hires. LASIK MD will also give you the opportunity to learn new skills and make a difference in people's lives on a daily basis!
