Under the direction of the Manager, Nutrition Services, the Dietitian is responsible for direct patient care for inpatient and long-term care residents at Strathmore Health Services and provides outpatient services as part of the Calgary Rural Diabetes Program to patients in Strathmore and Airdrie. The Dietitian also provides nutrition care to residents of a supportive living facility in Strathmore. The Dietitian monitors patient outcomes, communicates with team members and documents in an appropriate manner. The Dietitian will play an active role in the education of nutrition interns and medical staff. Responsibilities will also include participation on committees as directed.
As a Dietitian I, you may provide nutrition expertise to patients (clients, residents) in various AHS facilities and community settings to achieve nutrition and health outcomes. You may be responsible for nutrition assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of nutrition care plans. You may plan and provide public health nutrition services and education programs to promote healthy living and disease prevention for clients/groups in facilities or community settings. Nutrition education is provided to students and other healthcare professionals to support delivery of evidence based nutrition information.

Completion of Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Foods and Nutrition. Completion of an internship program or practicum training program accredited by the Dietitians of Canada. Active or eligible for registration with the College of Dietitians of Alberta (CDA).
Additional Required Qualifications:
A minimum of 1-year experience working in a rural acute care facility preferred. Experience in long-term care and supportive living preferred. Certified diabetes educator and experience working with patients with gestational diabetes preferred.
