Job Title: Provincial Reintegration Support Worker (Summer Student)

Reports to: Provincial Reintegration Worker

*Term Position: 30 hours per week

Term: July 9 – August 31, 2018

Rate: $12.00 per hour

Elizabeth Fry Society of Manitoba

The EFSM is a non-profit, community-based agency that has as its mandate to actively seek to reduce the number of women and girls involved in the criminal justice system by providing a variety of programs, services, and advocacy support to women and girls who have been in conflict with the law.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To support women with finding resources for their basic needs;
  • To assist provincially sentenced women in their release planning;
  • To provide short term individual support to Winnipeg women on release in the community;
  • Assisting with one-on-one peer support;
  • Participate in maintaining communication with other community agencies and donors;
  • Assist with preparing and distributing care packages to women coming out of custody;
  • Assist with program fundraising;
  • Abide by the Elizabeth Fry Society of Manitoba’s policies and procedures manual and able to interpret and make decision that adhere to this manual as part of her day to day job duties;

SECONDARY RESPONSIBITIES

  • Ensuring that information in client files is up to date;
  • Following up with email, call logs and drop in community needs;
  • Assist with further tasks at Provincial Reintegration Worker’s request

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Post-Secondary full-time enrollment; returning to in Fall 2018
  • Demonstrated understanding and working knowledge of the criminal justice system
  • Demonstrated understanding of the impacts of colonialism on Indigenous women
  • Excellent analytical and/or problem solving skills
  • Excellent assessment and evaluation skills
  • Good leadership and organizational skills
  • Ability to coordinate cross-programming requirements with coworkers and external community agencies
  • Sensitivity to and ability to work in a cross-cultural context with ethno-racial communities and groups including sensitivity to different cultural beliefs
  • Ability to function independently and within established parameters
  • Computer literacy including skills in word processing
  • Ability to work effectively and productively with limited supervision and under stress of deadlines
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality ability to work within the policies and procedures as outlined, while respecting the vision, mission and core values of the agency
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
