TERM EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANT VACANCY

Under the direction of the Principal, the Educational Assistant, as an integral member of the school team, is responsible for the provision of support to students with exceptional needs within the school. The position involves dealing with confidential information and requires ongoing flexibility and variability. The responsibilities are many and varied in support of teaching and other professional staff including instructing individual or groups of students in academic and/or integrated classes, implementing special programs, physiotherapy exercises and stretches, behaviour management programs, supervising students, dealing with behaviour problems, signing, interpreting, braille, life skills, academic support, work experience and aquatics where required.

Specific Assignment Requirements:
NOTE: As per the SSP Collective Agreement, Casual EAs who accept terms to June 26, 2020 are not eligible to apply to terms at other schools. You are eligible to apply to another half time term or to Regular postings only.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
DSW/CYW
Autism experience
French preferred
Experience redirecting students
Experience using a variety of strategies to help students stay on task
Experience helping students in facilitating body breaks
Assistive Technology: Google read and write
Prepared to assist with toileting
CPR/First Aid
BMS
Computer Skills
Yard duty

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: Kindergarten to Grade 6

SALARY: a) If a term assignment is less than the school year: $22.76 per hour + 4% vacation pay (no eligibility for benefits)

b) If the term assignment is for the full school year: $23.67 per hour and enrolment in the Board's term benefit plans (subject to terms of Collective Agreement)
