NAC is currently seeking a Regional Health, Safety & Environmental Manager for Western Canada.

Location:
British Columbia (Lower Mainland or Vancouver Island)

Position Summary:
Ensure the HSE activities within the Region are carried out in accordance with NAC’s commitments, values and objectives.
Manages and coaches subordinate HSE professionals
Participates in developing new policies, programs and practices
Monitor and implements legislative and contractual requirements applicable to NAC’s HSE performance within the Region

Job Description:
Promote a culture where HSE is a value that will never be compromised
Recommend, guide, support and oversee HSE management and performance within the Region’s projects.
Maintain a conducive working relationship with the Region’s HSE personnel, superintendents, project managers
Provide advice, strategies and problem-solving to the Region’s project management on all HSE issues to achieve the goal of ‘no harm’
Manage budget, schedules and other HSE resources at the Regional level
Manage the interface with the Region’s clients, regulators and other relevant stakeholders on HSE issues
Promote and support enforcement of the company’s Life Saving Rules and the Progressive Discipline process
Implement HSE objectives, manage KPIs and ensure timely performance reporting for the Region
Ensure COR requirements and submissions along with audits are performed as set out by the province
Provide guidance for project setup, including Project HSE documentation
Solicit and prioritize HSE safety improvement ideas from the Region’s projects
Assist with ensuring that sub-contractors adhere to program requirements and required safety standards inline with legislation
Conduct safety audits of project sites using standardized documentation and processes
Provide input, guidance and review of HSE sections for proposals on regional matters
Identify and facilitate sharing of best HSE solutions and practices
Coordinate and support the implementation of the Safety Manager software use at the Region’s projects
Participate in investigations of incidents requiring medical aid or more severe
Recruit and induct the Region’s HSE personnel
Provide council on HSE matters for the Region’s HSE personnel
Ensure performance, assessment, training and development for the Region’s HSE personnel
Manage the identification of health and safety training needs at the regional level
Assist the Corporate HSE Manager with promoting, representing and improving the HSE program
Other duties as assigned

Requirements:
Independent, self-motivated and effective leader with a passion for HSE work, who:
Has +10 Years of Construction experience
Has +5 Years of applied HSE experience
Possesses a diploma or degree in HSE or equivalent
Has experience with “COR” maintenance and/or auditing within a construction company would be considered a strong asset
Possesses CRSP, NCSO or other HSE designations
Has experience managing teams, programs and improvement initiatives
Has proven ability to influence work planning and execution by field / operations people as relates to achieving HSE needs and priorities
Is action and solution oriented and capitalizes on opportunities for improvement
Is dedicated to meeting requirements of internal and external stakeholders
Knows and grounds decisions in NAC core values, commitments and rules
Is a reliable mentor and expert in HSE practices, HSE regulatory and due diligence requirements, best industry HSE practices
Keeps confidences through maintaining truthful demeanor and values feedback
