Position Purpose Summary:
As a member of the BHC Leadership Team, plan, supervise and evaluate the Education, Health, Nourish and Children’s Services aspects of Bethany Hope Centre with a creative, mature, team approach, ensuring the applicable legal, financial, safety and philosophical framework of the Centre.

Responsibilities
Children’s Services

Daily supervision of children’s services staff, volunteers and students
Ensure the planning and implementation and evaluation of appropriate age based activities according to skill and learning levels that promote social interaction and personal development
Ensure on-going feedback on child’s development and behavior is provided to parents
Network with other day cares, schools, community centres, churches, and social service agencies for the benefit of the children and the program
Ensure that all information about children, family, staff, visitors and volunteers are strictly confidential; and that activity records and statistics are confidentially secured
Role model appropriate behaviors and attitudes supporting growth and promoting change for the child and family
Provide emergency first aid and complete reports and files incident reports as required
Ensure that programs meet contractual, legal and internal accreditation requirements; ensures full compliance with child protection legislation and intervenes when necessary
Ensure facility cleanliness tidiness
Manage the budget for the Children’s services program
Meet with the Infant and Child Development Team (including Community Nurse) on a regular basis to discuss any child case management issues
Education Services

Supervision of education program staff, volunteers and students
Ensure the planning and implementation and evaluation of appropriate high school activities according to skill and learning levels that promote high-school completion, continuing education opportunities and post-secondary options
Network (or delegate to staff) with other agencies for the benefit of the participants and the program
Ensure that all information about participants, staff, visitors and volunteers are strictly confidential; and that activity records and statistics are confidentially secured
Ensure that programs meet contractual, legal and internal accreditation requirements
Ensure the classroom has the resources required where possible and seek support and resources for this program as required
Delegate daily tasks to the Learning Coach and the Educational Assistant
Be aware of and advise on the budget for the Education services program (daily management by the Learning Coach)
Ensure quarterly reports from the Learning Coach have been sent out to funders
Health Services

Supervision of health program staff, partners, volunteers and students
Ensure the planning and implementation and evaluation of appropriate health programs and activities according to emergent needs
Network with other agencies for the benefit of the participants and the program (or delegate to staff)
Ensure that all information about participants, staff, visitors and volunteers are strictly confidential; and that activity records and statistics are confidentially secured
Ensure that programs meet contractual, legal and internal accreditation requirements
Ensure the health centre has the resources required where possible and seek support and resources for this program as required
Delegate daily tasks to the Community nurse
Be aware of and advise on the budget for the Health services program (daily management by the Community Nurse)
Monitor the temperature of the vaccine fridge and record when Comunity Nurse is not in
Nourish Services

Supervision of Nourish program staff, partners, volunteers and students
Ensure the planning and implementation and evaluation of appropriate food security programs and activities according to emergent needs
Network with other agencies for the benefit of the participants and the program (or delegate to staff).
Ensure that all information about participants, staff, visitors and volunteers are strictly confidential; and that activity records and statistics are confidentially secured
Ensure that programs meet contractual, legal and internal accreditation requirements
Ensure the Nourish Family Food Centre has the resources required where possible and seek support and resources for this program as required
Be aware of and advise on the budget for the Nourish program (daily management by the Nourish Coordinator)
Other

Liaise with the ED regarding the needs of the aforementioned programs
Act as a member of the Leadership team with decision making responsibilities
Participate in Community Council
Sit on Health and Safety Committee
Assist with grant writing for all above mentioned programs
Perform other management duties as assigned (i.e.: quarterly PEACS, Employee Development and Annual Reviews, Program Evaluations, etc.)
Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications
Completed a minimum university or college level degree, specializing in education, children, health, social work or equivalent
More than five years prior related experience, including experience in a child care and/or health and/or social services and/or education environment
Minimum 3 years’ experience supervising/managing a multidisciplinary team is required
Current First Aid CPR

The successful applicant may have/hold:
Preferred - current ECE, teaching or nursing certification
Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health training
Trauma Informed Supervision
Experience with grant writing
Prior knowledge of Brain Story AFWI

Successful candidate will be required to provide upon hiring:
A clear vulnerable sector screening
A clean drivers abstract
Participate in our online Armatus Abuse Training and Health and Safety training required upon hiring, as well as updated annually
HOURS: 35 hours per week, Monday-Friday 9am-4pm with limited evening and weekend hours

1 year term with possibility of permanent full-time after 1 year
