We are hiring a Manager, Data Insights and Analytics

Location: 1 Presidents Choice Circle, Brampton, ON

Reporting to the Director, Data Insights and Analytics the incumbent will use advanced techniques in obtaining and analyzing data to obtain information in a time-efficient manner. You will have the opportunity to support various unique projects and enterprise-wide analytical initiatives.

Responsible for the extraction and analysis of complex information from a variety of databases, selecting appropriate datasets and data representation methods.
Develop capabilities to identify areas of opportunity and improve processes and efficiency by designing machine learning systems.
Perform statistical analysis and fine-tuning using test results.
Support initiatives to make business partners more self-sufficient.
Work with IT in terms of identifying opportunities to make key information more easily and reliably accessible.
Act as gatekeeper with regards to security and confidentiality of data obtained through all sources.
Translating business requests and questions into SQL logic. Business requests can be strategic nature or tactical focus, including but not limited to initiatives about in-store activities, CRM initiatives, marketing promotion and targeting, price optimization etc.
Extract, review and prepare sales and customer behavior data for analysis, reporting using SQL
Analyze data to help determine insights to solve business problems, study and transform data science prototypes
Work collaboratively with Product, Sales and Marketing and Operations groups, on cross functional projects and initiatives
Actively identify and execute initiatives to improve process and data infrastructure
Strictly adhere to legal and compliance guidelines; regarding access and exposure to sensitive and confidential information

Skills and Experience:
Proven experience as a Machine Learning Engineer or similar role
Programming skills with Phyton, Pyspark, Scala or R.
3-5 years experience in utilizing advanced SQL data extraction and manipulation tools (MS SQL, Unix, Linux, IBM Netezza, IBM DB2, Teradata).
3 years experience in BI platform (Microstrategy, PowerBI, Tableau, Qlik, etc)
Experience with Hadoop or understanding of its components (HDFS, HBase, Spark) is an asset.
Superb analytical and conceptual thinking skills; to not only manipulate but also derive meaningful interpretations from data
Familiarity with machine learning frameworks and libraries
Deep knowledge of math, probability, statistics and algorithms
Understanding of data structures, data modeling and software architecture
Ability to take initiative, multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
Capability to liaise with all levels across the enterprise on projects and ad-hoc requests
Strong detail orientation is essential in this role
A Team player and self-starter
Advanced MS Office skills (Excel, Word, Access)
