An exciting opportunity exists at Mainroad Chinook Contracting LP to join our team as a Highway Line Painter! This is a full-time contract position from May 1, 2020 – October 31, 2020 based out of our Calgary yard in Rocky View County, Alberta and will report to the Foreman.

Mainroad Chinook takes pride in providing a variety of services such as road repair, snow removal and lighting maintenance for the Southeast Stoney Trail. The Southeast Stoney Trail Project is a public-private partnership (P3) between the Alberta Government and Chinook Roads Partnership and is one of the largest single P3 highway infrastructure projects in Alberta’s history.

The successful candidates shall have the following qualifications:

  • Minimum two (2) years’ experience of long line/striper pavement painting with a tandem axle line striper
  • Class 3 Driver’s License with airbrake endorsement and clean abstract is preferred
  • Ability to perform regular maintenance on a paint truck
  • Capability of working nightshift
  • Safety conscious with the willingness to learn and practice safe work habits, and actively participate in worksite safety in general
  • Proficiency with computer systems
  • Ability to read engineered drawings is preferred
  • Strong learning agility
  • Ability to work both independently with minimum supervision and as a team player
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability and willingness to work outdoors in all kinds of weather
  • Dedicated and committed

Job duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Carries out various general labour duties as required
  • Re-stripes existing line markings and new line markings on new projects
  • Performs activities related to a Highways Maintenance Contract
  • Materials handling of paint and glass traffic spheres
  • Completes PSI’s
  • Completes incident reports in the time frame required
  • Works on projects outside of a Highways Maintenance Contract
  • Completes the necessary training as required
  • Follows the Safety Policies as outlined in the Mainroad Manual
  • Other job duties as required and assigned
