Island Express Air Inc., a locally owned and operated Lower Mainland air carrier in BC, provides scheduled services to Abbotsford, Vancouver, Victoria, Nanaimo, Qualicum Beach, and chartered destinations around BC and Canada. The company has grown from 1 aircraft to 10 since 2007.

Island Express Air is currently seeking a full-time Aircraft Maintenance Engineer to support our team in aircraft maintenance and repairs to ensure our number one safety-first value. We are accepting resumes from qualified candidates for at our Abbotsford Airport location. As an AME you will be responsible for the day-to-day maintenance requirements of the aircraft fleet:

  • Inspecting, maintaining and repairing our diverse, multi-engine propeller fleets, such as Twin Engine PA31 Piper Navajo aircrafts. This includes maintenance of air conditioning, hydraulics, engines, flight controls, landing gears, avionics, electrical generation, oxygen, fuel, and pneumatic systems
  • Complete daily inspects and basic inspection tasks
  • Perform independent critical and non-critical system checks, dissembling and reassembling components
  • Aircraft servicing and operations, including maintenance, cleaning, and repair of worn, defective, or damaged components
  • Measure parts for wear using precision instruments
  • Read and interpret maintenance manuals, service bulletins, and other specifications to determine the feasibility and method of repairing/replacing malfunctioning or damaged components
  • Source appropriate tooling, test equipment, or group support equipment
  • Safely operate all ground equipment
  • Towing aircraft and able to perform all positions
  • Engage in basic trouble shooting on assigned tasks
  • Ensure appropriate documentation is completed accurately and on time to submit to senior Technicians/Shift Leads
  • Ensure accurate log of maintenance schedule
  • Apply safe work practices in all aspects of job by wearing appropriate protective equipment, understanding and applying Risk Management System, and understanding and applying Health & Safety Policies
  • Order and maintain inventory of parts and supplies, as needed
  • Coordinating with team and management to ensure best business practices

Skills Requirements:

  • College diploma in aircraft maintenance or equivalent apprentice program
  • Minimum 1 year in aircraft inspection or mechanic capacity or an equivalent combination of experience and training
  • Display thorough working knowledge of aircraft systems on multiple aircrafts, with ability to adapt to sudden changes, make quick decisions, and remain calm and pleasant
  • Positive attitude and strong work ethic
  • Willing to take initiative
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively and independently and as part of a team
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Willing to pursue additional company training as required
  • Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position
  • Flexibility to work any type of shift
