The Portfolio Manager, Curriculum, Assessment and Evaluations plays a critical role in maximizing the value of Curriculum, Assessment and Evaluations applications used by the Faculty of Medicine. You will utilize your in-depth knowledge and experience with curriculum, assessment and evaluation processes, technologies, and industry trends to develop and manage the complete lifecycle of applications in your assigned portfolios. As an effective relationship manager, you are the key contact that works closely with clients and the Service Delivery Team to establish a product vision, strategy, positioning, and roadmap that constantly improves the product offerings that align with the strategic goals of the Faculty.
Your responsibilities will include:
Acting as the main interface between clients, technical staff, other University personnel, and vendors to identify needs, investigate options and propose solutions
Developing project schedules, including milestones, critical path, timelines, deliverables and reporting; and maintaining relationships and relevant knowledge on client strategies, industry and technology trends, and adjusting portfolio/product strategies and roadmaps accordingly
Researching and evaluating IT applications and tools to determine alignment with user requirements and compatibility with existing IT infrastructure and services, and developing proposals for new applications and enhancements where required
Facilitating and leading process streamlining and application design workshops
Analyzing the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems and developing technical solutions for systems improvements
Managing and prioritizing the product development backlog, including leading the intake process for new project requests to assess impact, risk, costs, strategic alignment and implementation effort
Providing direction and supporting the Business Systems Analyst to develop the use cases and requirements for the Service Delivery Team and vendors
Planning, designing and executing functional and technical testing
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Information Science, Computer Science, or acceptable combination of equivalent experience
Minimum five years of related experience in portfolio and/or product ownership and/or requirements analysis in an IT environment
Demonstrated experience in project management, consulting, and implementing new or updated systems within a large, highly complex and highly technical organization
Demonstrated experience in analyzing highly complex problems and producing concrete and actionable solutions
A solid background in software development methodologies is required, including experience with: working in an Agile development framework, web-based application development; data and business process modeling; user interface design and usability testing, prototypes, and general design principles
Experience with UML or other business process modeling languages
Knowledge of requirements gathering and documentation techniques (contextual inquiries, surveys, use cases, scenarios, user stories etc.)
Demonstrated understanding of standard development environments (builds, releases, databases, etc.)
Excellent written and oral presentation skills
A strong communicator who will establish regular and consistent communications with stakeholders
Ability to effectively communicate with non-technical users and to communicate complex ideas using diagrams, models and prototypes
Excellent project management skills; can conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem solving capabilities
Experience working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential
Excellent meeting/workshop facilitation skills

Pay Scale Group and Hiring Rate: USW Pay Band 16 - $88,643 with an annual step progression to a maximum of $113,359. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
